Hi all,
I'm new here so apologies if I am posting in the wrong bit. I've been a closet Trekkie for a while (TNG, VOY) and have decided to give DS9 a go. I have recently finished the DS9 episode called 'Move Along Home' where the ds9 gang are placed in a game.

I really enjoyed this episode - it felt like it could have been a TNG episode, which made me think, what characters from VOY or TNG, or any other series could have been used, and how would they have reacted?


So I reckon the gambler would have been Data, and the four players could have been Troi, Geordi, Riker and Worf.

Who would you chose? And how do you think they would react?

Interesting idea. I think it might have actually worked better with the TNG cast. I think I would go with Riker as the gambler though - he's good at bluffing, calculating odds, and taking risks. My players would be Troi, Geordi, Worf, and Worf's son Alexander. The game would need to be tweaked a bit so that each "level" would be more fitting for each of the players.

was never a ds9 fan because i preferred babylon 5 and hate the rifleman : however i have been mulling over a "secret war" campaign in the star trek universe . however ds9 is not the only series with this kind of episode : but like i have said i have been thinking of some kind of secret war set up by Q with the ultimate federation against ultimate nemesis: just not sure if the better combat leader is archer or kirk

Darmok with the original series crew. IDK if Kirk would handle being stranded with the alien captain as well as Picard did, but we'd get to see Spock and Uhura talking linguistics which would be awesome

I was trying to stay away from the non canon speculation of Trelane being a Q.... but if this was say, the Phase II pilot for the refit Enterprise post V'Ger, then having Admiral Kirk muse about Trelane wouldn't be out of the question.

there is the q gambit which is an entire series based in the idea .
there is an argument that both charlie x and the squire of gothos : i know that q2 is a voyager episode name but i am pretty sure there is a 1990 novelette by the samename

Q Squared, actually. I have no idea what the Gambit Saga is. I am more or less unfamiliar with novel canon, unless it has been discussed in length lol.

Seriously though, I'm curious how Balance of Terror would play out by the TNG crew. (Then again, that probably would be a brilliant episode with any of the series' crews.)
