Episode IX Speculation and Discussion

I won't be able to see it :-( Have my tickets to the Chinese and everything, but gf just had back surgery and I need to take care of her.
I'm sorry :( Having been a caregiver in a chronic illness I can sympathize.

I won't be watching it until after the New Year.

Hey to both @fireproof78 and @crookeddy too. As a handicapped guy. I want to applaud you both being caregivers and also for @crookeddy too. For doing the right thing. Honestly. Most caregivers don't get the respect they richly deserve. I'm in a situation myself where I rely on my gf and caregiver heavily. It's a tough choice but honestly a right one.

On a personal note. I'm bummed and baffled that Rise of Skywalker's novelization isnt available as the same time on release day of the movie. It was a bold move when TFA came out, and I wish it was happening again, at the very least give us a choice. I also wish I could securely stream ROS at home to watch now. I know most want the theater experience. But I cant stand in line, and suffer from old man bladder, so the marathon of a movie make its it hell in a theater. But its cool. Maybe someday.

Getting old sucks, and honestly I'm under half a century. But it's not the years...its the mileage for me.

Sorry had to put in my support and thanks to you both as caregivers don't get enough thanks in my view. You keep us going, and make the world go round, and for that I'm gateful.

Happy Holidays to you and all as well.
-Koric

Well, I still intend to enter the theater in ~10 hours with an open mind, lean back and (hopefully) enjoy the ride.

But... when the tomatometer is less the AOTC ... yikes. It's hard not to have your anticipation dashed *just* a tad.

Have no intention of reading any reviews until after the movie, of course. Who knows, we might get an inverse to TLJ with the audience score smashing it. I didn't mind TLJ but how it reached 91% is beyond me.

I couldn't give two shits about rotten tomatoes. I hated TLJ so it's score of 91% is irrelevant to me. I'm going into TROS with an open mind, largely unspoilt and just wanting a couple of hours of epic sci fi fantasy entertainment. That will do for me.

Damn. 57% on RT. I guess the rumors were right.

It was pointed out on the grading thread that then TLJ came out, the reviewers were giving it high praise. This time around, we get more of a "fan-friendly" production and the (keep in mind EARLY) reviews are mixed. I'm not worried, nor do I look to reviewers to make up my mind about a movie. I'm going in with my full on fan-boy flag flying and cannot wait!

I just hope the Denis Lawson rumors are true. I want Wedge to be part of the mix.

That sucks. Hopefully she'll have a quick and full recovery.

This. It'll be good, or it won't. But I'll decide for myself on Sunday.

Have you seen it yet?

Of course not. He's just blowing air out his ass. Which is his normal form of posting.

I am going toi see it.. but since it's whatever, I did listen to a few spoiler filled reviews which had full summaries of what happened. and
they all matched the leaks
. Guess what I know that films live or die bot based on what happens but how they happen so maybe the actual storytelling and filmmaking will be good. I await to see that .

None of these leaks/spoilers are turning me off from the film. In fact they’re making me think it might be my second favourite of the new trilogy.

But I won’t know for sure until I actually see it.

The leaks are real. Okay. I'm not sure how I feel about that. But, at the very least before I make any kind of a judgment call, I want to see it myself. Context is really important.

And, just for the record, if I was Finn I would've asked the same question.
sure, me too. One some level there is nothing wrong with it. It just never felt write. it felt too modern earth, not like a Star Wars thing. I can't articulate why it felt "off" save for the fact that the original films.. even the smarmy main characters didn't talk like that.. they didn't really talk much different but the subtly is what got me. "Hello what have we here" from Lando is ultra smooth, wheres Finn's lines are ultra cringey. And it, like much of what is done with the Finn character, doesn't mesh with his backstory and fit the character. (I also don't think Rey's story fits her behavior, but that's another story)

Anyway I remember sitting in the theater and just being caught by it. It didn't lose me.. not yet.. but it took me out of the film in a jolting way, and that's when the "feel" started to leave the sequel
