Episode IX Speculation and Discussion

That he could have done by snapping Palpys neck in Episode 3 by not being an idiot and thinking Padme died of "Wuv" and saving many billions more, not throwing himself whole heartidly into such cruetly his name is the most feared in a galaxy.

But you know, weird blood sick wizard people, what can you do.
Yep, but again, I didn't say otherwise.

We have here a case of two films: "Revenge of the Sith", and "The Rise of Skywalker", with the nearly letters for the start of each word in the title. So what short hand will be used for this new one?

Revenge of the sith goes by ROTS.

This would be either TROS or just ROS

This is an incorrect statement.

He's literally said in interviews that Johnson took the story in a different direction than he would have, so how is an incorrect statement?

TLJ was supposedly about moving in new directions and leaving the past behind, and now we've got the Death Star, Palpatine and hell, maybe even a few Ewoks thrown in for good measure.

Didn't JJ say something in the panel about liking how Johnson left things in TLJ? Point being, it might not have been the direction he would have chosen, but it might have opened up new story possibilities for JJ. That's an exciting possibility.

And I for one don't care that we have old elements thrown in. Can JJ tell a story that isn't a retelling of any of the episodes before and wrap up the saga well? That's what I think is important and we'll find out in December.

The article also goes on to suggest:

[Abrams] liked Johnson's Episode VIII pitch and went on record to state the polarizing Last Jedi reactions did not influence his approach to Episode IX. He's merely explaining that a film changed story directions while it was in development, which isn't anything new for the film industry.

I was very whelmed by the trailer, which is similar to how I felt back with the first TFA teaser. Both times its something related Falcon that was my highlight, this time it's seeing Lando back. Not that it really matters. Even if the trailer was made up of everything I've disliked about Star Wars I'd still go see Ep9.

A big grin came on my face with "Every generation has a legend." Love the TPM teaser trailer callback.
And there may have been a tear when "The saga comes to an end" came on the screen.

That Imperial-I Star Destroyer appears to have red paint on the edges, might just be the lighting through
Maybe the Resistance got their hands on some old Imperial tech.

What a great teaser trailer. I was watching the panel live on youtube, and it did a great job of making me even more hyped for Episode IX (and I've watched the trailer a few times since then). This is going to be great.

People can say what they want about how TFA had a lot of story elements taken from ANH, I get all of that.... But, as with the first trailer for TFA, this feels like Star Wars to me. And I'm hyped!

I was never bothered by the similarities between ANH and TFA. TFA needed to prove that good SW movies could still be made in a post-Prequel world, and then the series moved on from there. I loved TFA, I loved TLJ, and I'm sure I'll love Episode IX.
