Episode from the Romulans point of view?

Now don't get me wrong as I loved "In the Pale Moonlight" as it was arguably one of the best Star Trek episodes ever but I was thinking about this the other day and I think the writers of DS9 missed out on an opportunity to have a purely Romulan episode in late season 6.

In this episode we could have found out about the Romulans take on the Federations and the Klingons war with the dominion and the Romulans plans in regards to the war as I personally would have loved to of found out that the Romulans were secretly supplying the Federation and Klingons with necessary equipment for the war as the Romulans knew that they would much rather the Federation and Klingons win the war than the dominion.

For the episode I imagine it being entirely set on a Romulan Warbird and it is about the Romulans themselves finding evidence of the dominion planning an invasion of Romulus, or possibly a Warbird going on a secret mission to DS9 and possibly uncovering the dominion plot with the Federations help.

Perhaps it could have been like WW2 where the British had actual evidence of the Germans plans to attach the Soviets and they tried to help the Soviets get ready for the oncoming invasion.

Now as you can tell my ideas are very loose but I love the idea of a Romulan episode from a Romulan point of view about the war before they got involved. I mean I am sure the Romulans always had a plan as I do not believe for a second that they would have let the Federation and Klingons get destroyed as while they did not like either group they would have known the Federation and the Klingons are a lot better than the Dominion.

Does any of this make sense to anyone (as I am not sure I am really making myself clear) and what do you all think?

Given that your idea pretty much guts ITPM of everything that made it a great episode it doesn't have any appeal in my eyes.

Apart from maybe not doing anything with the Romulan who came along with the cloaking device back in season 3, I don't think that DS9 needed to do much else with the Romulans.

Romulans served pretty much as the guys waiting in the wings during the 24th century. The only one partially expanded as a character was TNG's Tomalok (sp?), and we pretty much lost him when Babylon 5 started up.

There weren't any sufficiently established Romulans on DS9 to speak of, so any story centered on them would have had little for the regular cast and auxiliary players to do.

I was thinking the Romulans had to of known that the Defiant was using their clocking device often in the Alpha Quadrant during the war and the Romulans didn't seem to be upset over it. This gives me the feeling that while the Romulans really didn't want to get their hands dirty in the war they were also secretly hoping the Federation and Klingons were going to win.

I would have found it interesting if by the 4th or 5th episode of season 6 if the Romulans decided that they could not let the Federation lose the war so they tell the Federation that for the duration of the war the treaty saying the Federation cannot use cloaking devices is not in affect (or at least that part of the treaty).

Prior to getting actively involved they were probably hoping the Federation and Klingons would win but be heavily weakened in the process allowing the Romulans to expand
