That was my take on it.It may not have been a deliberate attempt at suicide. She may have known there was a risk of death but the chances of disabling the tracking device/transponder may have been too great to not risk her own life to cut Commodore Oh and the Romulans off her trail.
I'd add that she is in obvious guilt/conflicted over killing Maddox and in keeping the tracker a secret from the others. That guilt probably played a role in her decision to risk the health hazards involved in destroying the tracker the way she did...
...That is, she wasn't trying to commit suicide, but at the same time she now understands the need to disable the tracker for the sake of the crew, and she probably saw the risk of death from her chosen method -- although not a guarantee of death -- as a penance in some ways.
She figured It was her fault they were in that situation, so she felt it was only right to take the risk to help them out of it.
