Exactly. A planet of dilithium, a time crystal, a ship told to wait in a nebula for nearly a thousand years, and a mother trapped 950 years in the future... I think these things could converge quite well.

The trailer shows Pike on the Discovery's bridge in his Enterprise Uniform. So either he switches back to his Enterprise uniform before abandoning the ship, or Discovery isn't destroyed and they go back to her later on.

In the other episode, they mentioned there being like 3000 ships in service, so having about 1% of them being for Starfleet's advanced intelligence agency doesn't seem too unrealistic.
