epiphany of the Cybermen

i suddenly realised a few minutes ago, The Next Doctor's given anyone who wants to bring back the Cybus Cybermen in any time-frame an excuse to be able to.

the Doctor theorises that they fell out of the void during the Medusa Cascade War, so who's to say he's not wrong and that more of them didn't fall out into other time periods or on other planets?

I thought this at the time, RTD has given himself or Moffat the perfect excuse to bring back Cybermen or Daleks from now on.

Well it's RTD putting the toys back in the toy box. He's reset everything he's done giving Moffat a clean slate to bring them back or not, without having to overly explain how.

Still wondering whatever happened to the ORIGINAL Cybermen. They had limited time travel capability, so perhaps they were sucked up into the Time War? Or were otherwise casualties of it? Will we ever know?

I'd like to know what happened to the Mondasian cybermen, but lets face it, the distinction only matters to the kind of people who post on Doctor Who internet forums and not your average punter so I doubt it's high on Moffat's list of priorities to explore.

I would like to know what happened to them as well.

Seriously how difficult would it be to take the C off the Cybus costumes? And heck it does stand for Cybermen as well

I'd also like them to be terrified of gold and go back to saying 'Excellent''

Totally. With an ever so slight and delicate shake of the fist that only emotionless cyborgs can carry off.

I don't know the history as well as you guys, but it looks to me like there have been so many different Cybermen from so many different planets, that it's pointless to even TRY to make sense of it anymore. lol

as far as I know there has only been 2, its just the ones in ClassicWho changes there appearances as they got more budget

Not really. There are Mondasian cybermen and alternate Earth cybermen. That's basically it.

It's my understanding that the original Cybermen changed appearances because the Doctor would see them at difference times that happened to be their future, and as such this explained the change in their appearance.

seems logical to me.

Ok, my mistake. I was reading a DW Magazine, and they said a lot of the earlier serials gave the Cybermen different origins and planets. Later episodes and books tried to explain and rationalize the inconsistencies, but never come up with anything very convincing.

The Homeworld of the classic Cybermen has been listed in canon as both Telos and Mondas.

Rassilon forbid the Cybermen from playing in his Game. Daleks too.

That gem throws a whole lot of timetables out of whack.

The Cult of Skaro didn't know what a Cybeman was when they met them at the end of season 2 NuWho. Okay, they did know what a Cybeman was, but they didn't identify this model of Cyberman with what it regarded a Cyberman to be from past encounters, which just shows how extremely xenophobic they are that they rise to the occasion to figure out how to hate people and things differently if they are just an inch off some projected feat of normalensence.

I assumed that the Doctor was talking about some other war since the Cybermen and the daleks wouldn't "team-up" which makes me even more skeptical about a Timelord-Cyberman Alliance, that how many Timelords were "upgraded" before some sort of truce could be called? then who's to say that the war just had two sides? And who's to say that the timelock on the war is still as seemingly effectual after that mad squeely Dalek broke the lock and rescued Davros?
