Enterprise vs Husnock Warship

Take a look at this youtube vid (can I embed? I don't know how!)

That is some very impressive firepower from the Enterprise-D!

Why oh why doesn't Worf do this every time they get into a fight! I think a volley of torpedoes like that would have destroyed the poor old BOP in Generations 3 times over.

So many battles could have been won, I guess Worf forgot how to shoot 10 photons at a time and only loaded 1 instead :(

Unfortunatley we all know Trek isn't exactly consistent :)

They use a lot of restraint obviously, but I think the total firepower of an ENT-D was calculated as being insufficient in combatting the Husnock ship...having said that...the Enterprise Evolution DVD featurette states the E-D can fire 10 simultaneous torpedoes in a spread...don't think we ever saw that in an episode. That's a lot of firepower.

The Enterprise could open a bottle of whoop-ass, that's for sure. Except for that damned starboard-power coupling! Damn you!

This just makes the Enterprise's defeat in Generations by a fucking 20-year-old Bird of Prey that was decomissioned because of a mechanical defect that much more stupid.

The actor standing next to Worf should get "The Trek Award" for the way, after the ship was hit, he absolutely THREW himself to the floor and then bounced and twisted in mid air then hit the floor a second time.

Bravo.

Ah to be fair, the E-D's shields were penetrated...something that would mean almost instant defeat for most ships...they actually won the battle.

You're not the first person to view that video and think the same thing. ;)

Yes, the Ent-D was vicious in that episode. It also unleashed just as much firepower in BoBW without much effect as well. I can only think that in both instances the Ent-D was fully prepared for battle whereas in Generations and episodes like Rascals, it was caught off guard.

Raises the question why the USS Odyssey in the DS9 episode didn't beat the shit out of the Jem'Hadar fighters. ;)

Generations was lame. All they did was fire one single phaser blast once. And the rest was running away from the evil BoP. They could have easily destroyed it firing everything they had.

Both Picard and Lursa emphaticly state that the Enterprise out-matches the Bird of Prey. As soon as the first torpedo blast penetrated the shields the Enterprise should've just unloaded everything it had on the BoP and then it would've been space dust. (Or rotate their damn shield frequencies!)

The Enterprise stood up to a Borg Cube! Where their shields were pretty much just as usless.

The destruction of the -D was just poorly written.

And it wouldn't have been had the first hit been much harder. Like, I dunno, blowing away a nacelle, destroying the photon torpedo launcher, that sort of stuff.

The damage on the Enterprise in TWOK looked much worse. And there the engine room was directly hit.
