Writers Strike & Star Trek, A Possibility?

After 5 television series (702 episodes) 1 cartoon (22 episodes), and 10 movies, theres got to be a lot of scripts for trek episodes that were never used right?

Could this be an oppertunity for CBS to fill in some programming for the spring of 08? Or even Fall 08.

No doubt many of these un-used scripts could be adapted to Star Trek Enterprise, especially if handled by Manny Coto!

Many actors are currently out of work and or soon will be due to the writers Strike, so many may be able to reprise there rolls in the show!

CBS and all networks are scrambling for programming, most are turning to reality shows, they have been around for 7 years now, and most of us are getting feed up with them, so they will be a big bomb!

This would give Enterprise a excellent chance of taking off again, bigger than before, because everyone will be looking for something to watch!

So may all, please send a extra letter this month Dec 07 to Mr Leslie Moonves voiceing this Idea, the last writers Strike lasted 6 months affecting programming for parts of 2 seasons!

Points for letters to contain:
1. To Mr Leslie Moonves
2. with the writers strike your going to be needing programming.
3. After Hundreds of hours of Trek on TV (702 episodes)theres got to be a lot of un-used scripts that could be adapted to Enterprise.
4. Would work with Manny Coto in charge!
5. the last strike lasted 6 months and affected programming for parts of 2 years.
6. reality shows been aroiund 7 years, they are old and bound to flop!
7. folks are going to be looking for some shows to watch.
8. With nothing else goeing on (TV wise) the studios can have sets built in a few weeks (4or5) and be shooting just about as quick (5or6 weeks) we could see Enterprise hit the air waves by March/April 2008, maybe sooner? Or fall 08?

Lets Take advantage of this opertunity, and voice this Idea to CBS/Paramount!!!

Dear Mr. Moonves,

With the writers strike going your going to be needing programming. Not apostrophes. Folks are going to be looking for some shows to watch, so here's the idea - why not start making new episodes of a show no one watched anyway !
Would work with Manny Coto in charge ! I never thought he was much of a writer anyway, so no doubt isn't on strike.
With nothing else going on the studios can have sets built within 4 or 5 weeks. No doubt the writers with time on their hands would be happy to knuckle down to sawing and painting (which is about what the writers of this show were best suited for anyway).
Look Mr. Moonves, the last strike lasted 6 months and affected TV for 2 years so in short - although the scripts were always piss-poor, this time we can blame it on the strike.
Reality shows have been around for years and are bound to flop. Look at the ratings. What we need is a show that until 2005 had been continously on the air for 19 - now that's longevity ! Look at the ratings ! Er.. actually, don't.

Is scifinut007 the new name for Brannon Braga?

Would be interesting if this could happen. That means Manny Coto would have to be free from 24, which would be on hiatus or in production during that time and could possiblity get some time in. But then there is talk of those writers on strike of doing internet work, which I'm sure could lead to some going to fan series on the web that might want help.

I don't know - The Sci-Fi Channel seems to like that idea, as they are continuing to produce nuBSG; and the recent Razor telefilm drew less than 1 million viewers.

And, while being a fan of Enterprise; I do wish everyone would take a reality chek and realize that the show is dead, and NOT coming back as a CBS/Paramount produced series - ever. The sets are struck; and most Star Trek memerobilia auctioned off; and the creative people and cast released - and most who decided not to retire have found other work. Paramount has handed the Star Trek franchise to JJ Abrams (and if that movie bombs - filmed Star Trek is dead for good).

You MIGHT (and it would probably be a better use of any energy you have in this regard) try working for a reunion telefilm - at least something that concludes ENT better than These Are The Voyages - but the series is dead and buried; and a reunion telefilm is probably the most you could hope for - and even that would be an extreme longshot; and not somrthing that would even be considered until JJ Abrams Star Trek project is complete.

Ahem... I watched. Still DO.
Me too. TV reruns, on DVD and hopefully in HD, when the format war is finally settled. To say no one watched ENT is just plain wrong and puts plenty of other Sci Fi shows in the same boat. Despite critical acclaim, BSG never managed any better... several first run figures were trounced by ENT marathons a few months back.

As for ENT coming back, I'll always welcome a reunion of the cast on any medium (not just TV but web-based, animation, even audio only). But either way Star Trek XI turns out, CBS will never bring it back. It was during their takeover of Paramount Television when the axe fell. Last thing I heard, those who made that decision were still in charge.

I am also still a watcher.

Just a thought, but a bunch of these unused scripts were likely unused for a reason. Reformatting the scripts to fit for Enterprise would require writers, who need to be strike for this little plan to work. I'll be the first to say that I hate reality TV, but it's not going anywhere. There are still plenty of people watching it, and because hey are so cheap, they don't even need that good of ratings! As good as I thought Enterprise was getting, it's dead.

Wow. This is one of the most ambitiously unrealistic ideas I've seen recently. Could you give me an estimate for your help reviving the Space Exploration Initiative?

Not really. They don't just write scripts and never use them. There are some scripts from the aborted TV series Star Trek: Phase II that have remained unproduced, but it would be next to impossible to adapt them to the ENT era even if there wasn't the problem of putting it into production.

No doubt many of these un-used scripts could be adapted to Star Trek Enterprise, especially if handled by Manny Coto!

Many actors are currently out of work and or soon will be due to the writers Strike, so many may be able to reprise there rolls in the show!

Do you realize how much money it will cost to rebuild the sets and re-hire the crew and cast?

This would give Enterprise a excellent chance of taking off again, bigger than before, because everyone will be looking for something to watch!

It's not gonna happen. They're not going to start producing a series again that was cancelled due to bad ratings.

Just hire one actor per episode. A whole episode about just Mayweather...on a planet...no ship interiors.

Maybe he could be marooned there with uh...an Orion...person.

Archer: Don't worry Phlox! Romulans or not, we'll get you back home in time for Multiple Wife Day.

Phlox: Grraaaaggh!

We have a better chance of seeing the TNG cast re-unite to do an hour of Christmas Carols.

I always thought that while filming the TNG movies, they should've filmed a couple of new TNG episodes and covertly seeded them in TNG syndicated reruns.

Complete scripts in filmable form?

No, no there are not.

I loved "Enterprise." It is deader than Francisco Franco.

However, a miniseries or two in the Trek universe might be do-able.

There is the fully complete Star Trek: The Beginning script about Tiberius Chase and the Romulan War....

Maybe we could throw in some lizard people, and some Mayans.

Ack. Ghargh. Spflllt.

You heard of Theatre sports?

I mean if they do go ahead with the idea for the YouTube Channel... Anthony MontGomery is going to be a televised Starship Captain Sooner or later.
