Enterprise Rewatch, first time in 10 years

Here we go...

Can't belive it's been 10 years. Enterprise actually holds a place in my heart as it got me through a period of SEVERE depression back then.

My first watch of it was weird, as my local DVD store had the whole series but on discs that only had 2 episodes (looking back i think they were bootlegs) and I could only take 2 at a time so i'd go in there daily and get the next episodes.

Anyway it'll be interesting to see after 10 years, how I feel about the series now.

Broken Bow pt 1

Ah the first season music, I prefer the high energy of the later seasons

I had forgotten how snooty they made the Vulcans in this, its a "little" too much imo, when we see Vulcans such as Taurik and Vorik in later shows who seem pretty chill. Even the vulcan Zeffram Cochrane met was happy to do some shots!

Archer is a little too aggressive towards them too, it just seems like nobody is that great at diplomacy.

The NX-01 is beautiful, in my opinion the USS Discovery works better as a 100 year progression of the NX than a 80 year precursor to the D, although the D is easily explained as being designed for luxury and warmth rather than to look high tech

Archers civillian clothes literally come from K-Mart

The netflix subtitles state Hoshi is speaking klingon in her introduction, then 2 minutes later archer plays klingon and she doesn't know what it is.

It strikes me the best way to deal with the vulcans would be to kill them with kindness

I love that they got Cromwell back as Cochrane, nice touch

The Suliban start out very intriguing, as does shadow man, a shame we never really see them play out

I love how Phlox is really innovative and uses the homeopathic stuff, gives him great point of difference

Travis being a "boomer" you think he'd maybe have a bit of "neelix" about him, knowing some useful people and places, at least in the very early episodes

so much aggresion at the dinner table from T'pol, then throwing shade at Hoshi for no reason. I thought vulcans were an enlightened people (ok ill stop with this topic)

This is definatley the most "flawed" crew, and i love them for it

Overall a strong start to the show, I think Broken Bow is a top 2 star trek premier episode, looking forward for more to come

I love Enterprise
But I really get annoyed that no one ever finishes a meal
In fact, sometimes they barely start it

I actually loved that the Vulcans of this time were lapsed Surakian followers, conniving and duplicitous and power-hungry, willing to use logic to rationalize their bad behavior, and sorely in need of the enlightenment they experienced in Season 4 to get them back on track adhering to Surak's teachings.

Archer got a lot of grief for his distrust of Vulcans, but it was a great touch when Soval told Forrest in Season 4 that Vulcans had indeed been trying to slow down humanity's progress, to keep them from lapping the Vulcans and becoming the greater power. Archer was right all along.
