I preferred 'Enterprise.' The name of the ship did not bother me as much as some, and the name really says Star Trek by itself. They should have had the cajones to stick to it.

Had they used a different name for a lead ship, I'd have probably wanted 'Star Trek' included.

Well, the results seem to be rather balanced as of now. Somehow I would have thought fans would be a little more in unison about this.

Yeah, me, too.

Enterprise. It's a prequel before Star Trek. Everyone knows the name Enterprise. Sticking Star Trek onto it didn't make it a better show.

I'm partial to just 'Enterprise'. I never saw anything wrong with just carrying the franchise's most famous name. Followed by series Star Trek, Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager. Works for me.

Of course, the franchise was facing its very own 'no-win scenario'. The show was failing to live up to expectations before the Pilot was even broadcast. So that name could be used as a stick to beat it with... especially being a prequel. Not living up to the heritage of either legendary ship from TOS or TNG. The bastard step-child who was either, too good to carry the Trek moniker or later... hadn't yet to earned the right to use it.

Didn't UPN bosses basically order Star Trek be put into the title, after there was no improvement in ratings for Season Three's premiere? I know, despite a revised DVD box-set, Extinction was the first to carry it. Wasn't the worry those setting TIVO/PVR were unaware Star Trek was even still on, because they never looked under 'E' for it?

I liked the original "Enterprise" more. I know it makes little or no difference, but it always seemed appropriate that a prequel show taking place before TOS in the chronological flow of things wouldn't be called "Star Trek" before TREK technically happened.;)

Has any other show ever changed its name mid-run?

"Barlow at Large" became just "Barlow" for its later seasons.
"All Quiet on the Preston Front" became just "Preston Front".
The rather cleverly titled "Always and Everyone" became the more obvious and boring "A & E".
Even "The Twilight Zone" dropped its definite article and became simply "Twilight Zone" for its last two seasons.
Most impressive has got to be "Softly Softly", which changed its name to "Softly Softly: Taskforce" right in the middle of a season.

Just 'Enterprise' for me - cool, sophisticated ... like the show, and good for a prequel name. Also, when it started, you could google it and not get all the other Star Trek shows when trying to search for something !!

Braga and Berman made the point when it started that everyone on the planet knew the reference 'Enterprise' just as well as they knew 'Start Trek'. And they were right - UPN idiots!!
