ENTERPRISE on Blu-Ray OFFICIAL Discussion Thread

I'm very eager to buy the first two seasons on blu-ray just for the special features alone, as the ones done on TNG have been pretty excellent. However, I just don't care for the seasons in general. In order to determine if I wanted to get the sets, I rewatched ENT for the first time in years on Netflix Instant and realized there's not a whole lot going for those two seasons. I'll definitely get the third season though, because I admire the ambition and though they did a good job doing a one season arc. Maybe someday when I come across the blu-rays for cheap I'll get S1 and S2. Will just have to wait it out.

Thank goodness. What a huge difference that makes. Now the cover art's not so bad. I like that they took the time to change Archer, too.

Only just catching up with this... I'm very happy to see they've changed Archer and T'Pol, to reflect their beautiful and rugged make-overs that year. Oh, hang on... wrong way around that!

It's not perfect, but still great to see what can be done to fix that artwork, has been.

Still no S3 actual, or even approximate, release date announced for the UK. I really hope CBS haven't decided to pull the plug in Europe, probably not, but poor sales do sometimes influence decisions of that type - especially in smaller markets.

I'll import the US set if necessary, but I'd really rather not.
Me too. Importing more than those single disc TNG feature-length we don't usually get, could get expensive due to the customs tax.

Hopefully it's simply that PHE UK are going to be a month or two behind the States, ENT S3 being so early into 2014. There's always a lull for new releases in the first few weeks right after Christmas. Perhaps holding it back until February or March, bringing it out just before TNG S6 or something.

Quick update for UK fans, according to this link... http://www.sfseriesandmovies.com/blu-ray-news/ ...season 3 will also be released in the UK in January. If so, I'm sure CBS have their reasons for not confirming an actual date thus far.

Fingers crossed.

I'll probably do the same as what I did with S1 for this one, buy it new on eBay in a few months for $30. While I fully support the Trek in HD project (I've got everything so far), I can't really see paying quite as much for ENT as the other series' as considerably less work went into it and there's considerably less of an improvement.

I never realized there was an episode that was basically a remake of TNG's "The Next Phase" with Hoshi. The episode with Trip on the hot planet with the dehydrated alien was pretty good, but it sort of reminded me of a cross between Darmok and Enemy Mine.
"Dawn" is indeed an "Enemy Mine"/"Darmok" ripoff. And in my opinion "Precious Cargo" is a horrible mix of TNG's "The Perfect Mate" and TOS's "Elaan of Troyius".

But the worst example is season 3's "Doctor's Orders". It is almost exactly the same story as Voyager's "One".

On the subject of Blu-ray; I'm thinking about buying, but I already have all seasons on DVD. Is it really worth it on a 32'' TV?

And what about Oasis being DS9's Shadowplay all over again? (It even guest stars Rene Auberjonois.)

Depends on how far away you sit from it.
If you only sit about 5' away from it, you'll see the increased detail that HD has to offer.

The guys over at Trekcore.com have posted the Season 4-Trailer:

The switch to digital photography in season 4 is really apparent, I think. Even in the Trailer the colors pop of the screen compared to the first two seasons on Blu-Ray. Everything seems to be a bit sharper as well. On the other hand the show also has kind of a certain videolook now that was really apparent in these early digtial cameras.
