Enterprise is what Deep Space 9 was.

Deep Space Nine only had one episode like that.

Would that be one of the baseball episodes or one of the Dick Fontain episodes?

I LOVED the baseball episode because it was more then just a error with the holodeck or a adventure in it(which put me to sleep). It was part of character development.

If time travel episodes to the past or future added to character development in any shape or form I'd of liked it more. For Enterprise, the time travel to the past and future resulted in the captain having hissy fits about wanting to go back and barely(only sometimes) using the advice given to him. Because the all mighty captain knew more about the future then future guy, apparently.
Really, because heaven forbid a person be kidnapped and want to get back to his own freaking time instead of being trapped 800 years in the future in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Or be pissed at being kidnapped -- again -- in the middle of a mission that will determine the fate of his home planet. Or resent being screwed with to further someone else's war. Yeah, what a hissy-fit throwing baby.

Being stuck in the future, yes, it would make people angry(it was also what I call a filler) but wasn't that only once?

I think it would be better if he was more interested in what the future guy was saying then getting angry at him. If future guy can return him to the point he took him from then there's not much point to flip out everytime it happens.

^ I think the getting upset part was more along the lines of "Hey, thanks for asking if I wanted to time travel. Jerk." Daniels seemed to just yank him whenever he wanted, regardless if Archer was up for it. I'd be pissed too if it kept happening.

You are right. An episode where an injured cadet moves into a holosuite to have his courage restored by a computer generated character makes a lot more sense. :rommie:

In my personal opinion, as all of this was my opinion, I did like that episode.

True, but do you think Archer would of gotten anywhere if the time travel guy hadn't done anything? Wouldn't you think he'd of been more thankful then just...angry all the time. Maybe time travel guy and Archer could of forged more of a connecton.

The holodeck can be used effectively, it just isn't most of the time. It's only a Paper Moon is a good holodeck episode because the episode is about the main character (Nog). The holodeck is just a means to the end of telling a story about Nog's trauma.

The TNG holodeck episode involving Barclay is another example, off the top of my head, of the holodeck used wisely: the ep is mostly about this character's insecurities, etc.

I can live with the occasional escapist holodeck episode like Take Me Out the Holosuite because it built on DS9's baseball theme and had some decent character stuff. An episode like Badda-Big Badda-Bang, on the other hand, I'd rather just delete. DS9 used the holodeck more sparingly and less abusively than Voyager and TNG, however.

One of the things I liked about ENT from the beginning was its approach to tech: no talking computer, no holodeck, no universal translator, transporters potentially risky to use, and so on. There were a lot of good ideas in ENT on that level imo.
