Enterprise Episodes: Give Us Your Bottom Five

Skywalker, it's not great, not utterly awful. I think it's worst offense is being boring. Most episodes aren't utterly awful, in my opinion. Then again, I don't think most episodes are OMG AWESOME or JFC, IT SUX!

Bottom #1: Harbinger. I didn't recognize any of the characters. At least we find out T'Pol had a reason for acting strangely. I wish the other characters had a reason.
Rest: All boring -- Storm Front I, II, Precious Cargo, Fortunate Son, Oasis

Hey, Noname given got to list a second five (honorable mention) So...

Twilight,
Precious Cargo,
Dadelus
The Forge
Mauraders

5. Bound - I liked the concept, but there were a couple of stupid plot holes that killed it for me (like, why on earth would you leave male security officers to guard the Orion women in the brig?? Why not have the women save the day??) Sigh.

4. Fortunate Son - again, I get the concept, and it was nice to see non-Starfleet people, but. It was kind of boring.

3. Oasis - no "kinda" about it. REALLY boring.

2. Marauders - the only episode I routinely skip, as in, there are NO scenes I like. (People have mentioned other episodes they dislike, and every single one of them has at least one scene I'll watch, a conversation or whatever that redeems it from the bin. Marauders doesn't have any, imo.) I've said it before: Pixar's A Bug's Life is exactly the same plot, but done better.

1. TATV, for reasons already hashed through, ad nauseum. (Even so, unlike Marauders, TATV has scenes I'm drawn to, even if it means FF through the rest.)

1. "TATV"
2. "ANiS"
3. "Precious Cargo"
4. "Oasis"
5. "The Seventh"

"Marauders" is sixth worst on my current list.

"Bound" was just plain stupid. I like green Orion slave girl skin and cleavage as much as the next hetero(or lesbian;)) Trekker...but that plot ranks it seventh worst on my list. A real turd in an otherwise pretty awesome final season*.

*if you don't count "TATV." Which...frankly...I wish like hell I didn't have to.

Eddie:
Now I liked "Bound". I figure that any episode that has three awesomely built, almost naked green girls running around the ship (and Archer finally getting some) has to be a winner. They could have showed grass growing for the rest of the episode, it wouldn't have made any difference to me. Trip & T'Pol finally having their "meeting of the minds" was just icing on the cake. Different strokes, I guess.

I choose to ignore it, you can too! :techman:

^
The laws of Trek Canon(2005 revised) prevent me from doing so, sadly.

I keep trying to get out...but the rules keep PULLING ME BACK IN!

1. TATV (I watched it with my hands to my face)
2. Terra Nova (although it added shale to my vocabulary)
3. Cogenitor (I know I am in a minority or even alone)
4. Extinction (ugh)
5. Precious Cargo (I liked the subplot with Archer & T'Pol, I think)

Would These Are The Voyages be getting such a bad rep if it wasn't the series finale? As an episode, I didn't find it too bad : /

Probably not. Mid-season episodes are easily discarded, but TATV was supposed to be ENT's swan song.

You know that saying "All is well that ends well." A different kind of finale would have washed away the bad taste, but when a show ends like "that"...

Well, here's my contibution:

TATV - it's all been said many times
Seventh - total character assassination of T'Pol, even worse than Bounty
Twilight - idiotic remake of '50 First Dates', which was an idiotic premise to begin with
A Night in Sickbay - painfully childish in too many ways
Extinction - horrible execution of an interesting premise

After much thinking about the 5th choice, I couldn't choose Daedalus because the interaction between Archer and Danica is so genuinely caring, Maruaders because of Hoshi impressing Malcolm and Trip being very believably caring to the young boy, or Bound because the opening scene is one of my favorite Archer scenes of the series because we rarely 'see' that Archer is connected to his crew. Terra Nova was just kind of boring.

:rommie: LOL, that really never occurred to me, but you're kinda right actually. Knowing what "50 First Dates" was about, I always avoided it.

Personally, back in the day I thought Twilight was a ripoff of Chris Nolan's "Memento." I don't consider it a bad episode, though. Just not that great.

Well, you know that premise 'willing suspension of disbelief' that is especially true for scifi, but actually for a lot of fiction - I just couldn't engage it for this episode - and it really is necessary in this instance.

What would have worked better as an episode to show the worst case scenario would have been a look into Archer's fears of failure for the mission - while he was unconcious, show us his nightmare world. It would have been a much better basis for his 'descent into hell' and aberrant behavior as the season progressed, and not as gag-inducing as 'Archer is not up to snuff and no one else can save Earth'.
