I'd say it looks less like the E-E and more like "generic spaceship with some Trekian features."

On an episode of Sonic X, the Egg-Fort II strikes a resemblance of USS Enterprise-E.

I bought this up a couple of years ago after watching an episode one morning, I nearly spat out my tea thinking 'what the Hell is Eggman doing in a starship?'

But to me it always looked a bit more like a blend of a few different ships, 23 and 24 century. I wouldn't be surprised if Sonic Team put it in there as an in joke to any Trek fans watching.

Or was that the E-99, anyway a couple of his machines look similar to famous scifi vehicles. Especially if you can dig up some of the concept art.
