It would be very interesting if the whole point of Calypso was to show that Discovery and the spore drive gets intentionally abandoned and lost next season, only to have the show continue with the Enterprise as the lead ship (which was probably what should have happened to begin with.) If that's the case, I only hope that the Enterprise exterior looks different than what we saw at the end of season1/start of season 2.

    There's a Section-31 spin-off coming.
It's highly unlikely that They will get rid of the current S-31 bridge till that show is done filming a few years down the road.

...But ST: Discovery would probably be rid of that, almost by definition.

Assuming, that is, that the spinoff really gets off the ground.

It's technically filming in Santa Clarita, but yes, greater Los Angeles. They're not going to ship bridge the set down.

So whatever bridge set(s) get built for the Picard Project will be built in California. *nods*

I can see them moving to the Enterprise for a chunk of season 3 before getting the Discovery back. That would also allow Pike to stay on a little longer.

This totally fits your description but I like it. Too bad the railing is in the way of the viewscreen.

Perhaps, but MU Georgieu is going to be around in Season-3, so I guess the S-31 bridge may still be needed for a few more months anyway.

I thought that the Picard story didn't involve a ship at this point.

And if They did need one I'm almost sure Mr. Stewart would be willing to fly to Canada for a couple of days of filming.
(he just didn't want to have to live up there full time)

Unless they are going with my coffee shop on Vulcan idea, then they will need a ship to get around. It is "Star Trek". :techman:

Yeah, I'm getting a strong feeling that this may not be an atypical Trek show.

This has already been debunked as NOT being what it's going to look like.

^ I know but I still like it as a concept and think it'll be difficult to top.

Just where did those renderings come from anyway? I've been spending the last half hour looking for the earliest instance of them being posted on the internet in the hope of locating the source, but didn't really find anything. The earliest instance of the images being posted I could find was this Google+ post from December 2017. Google turns up nothing earlier than that. But that does not seem to be the creator of the image. Hm … :sigh:

Transwarp beaming! It's years after 2387, all they need is a regular transporter pad and some magic equation and they can go from Earth to Kronos.

An early Next Gen pitch had the crew beaming to alien planets from Earth.

Deep-sixing the spore drive takes a line of dialogue, maybe two - it's not a difficult feat.

I'm confused why they even thought about using it again in “Project Daedalus” to begin with. I was under the impression that they had established in “Saints of Imperfection” that it irreparably damages the ecosystem of the beings living inside the Mycelial network. Would that fact alone not lead to them never using the spore drive again?

It seems to have gone back and forth, but I guess they settled on the idea that most, if not all, of the damage was being done by Culber.

Noooooo, that was a red herring. It was actually the soul/ghost/whatever of Hugh Culber that was doing all the damage, not the spore drive itself.

Ah, yes, I misremembered. Thanks for clearing that up for me. But yeah, it was a missed opportunity to get rid of the spore drive.
