enterprise compared to a 747

Yeah, the ship is bigger than I expected it to be (even after seeing Tallguy's video).

In other words,
No, that would be your words.

My words spoke for themselves.

In your opinion. I don't think this version of Spock worked at all.
The point was that this film certainly had an element of respect for the source material. Spock's inner conflict was one such point that was lifted directly from the original series.

How much ya wanna bet sales weren't quite up to snuff?
Um, nothing. Only you and a handful of other sad cases actually care about the hypothetical reason why that might have happened.

I think the major ships in TOS (the Enterprise, the Romulan BoP, the Klingon D-7) were just big enough to inspire awe and just small enough to maintain a sense of vulnerability and recognizable scale. Much as I like the new movie--and much as the new ship is growing on me--I'm not crazy about how big they made her, especially when she's dwarfed by the Narada.

Those pics and the video make me wonder if Roddenberry was actually a little CONSERVATIVE regarding the crew compliment....that now looks like an awful big ship for 430 to man - even with the majority being in the saucer. And to think for The Cage it was 200!
