The power strip switches are also on Discovery's consoles, but the TOS buttons seem to be Connie-specific. I always imagined they're advanced holographic tactile interfaces that you can do much more with than regular switches, like pushing from the sides, pulling, turning, twisting... XD
Take that, "it's 2019" people... ;)

It's a beautiful set.

But I'm surprised the TOS jelly beans aren't labelled. Mike Okuda supposedly printed off and stuck on icons for all of them for "In a Mirror, Darkly" even though they weren't visible on-screen.

It is a nice blend of the two aesthetics.

The rocker switches are pure TOS. Every station had at least one bank of them.

Wait till ya get a gander of the Engine Room from the latest Short.
It's ... Unique, to say the least.
(posted a thread about it)

Not anymore than the original design.

My feelings about the original design aside, if CBS has no problem with changing things, then I would have liked a better DSC Enterprise design than what we got. It’s basically an NX-01 crossed with a TOS Constitution class.

agreed. old news but while i don't mind the new enterprise design and appreciate the throwback nature of much of it, i'd rather they took a bolder swing than what they ended up with. discovery has its own style, the new enterprise doesn't fit that style or TOS, so it's kind of just an orphan.

I like the set, but there's a lot of empty space. The extra consoles from the Kelvin movies or those podiums with the sheets of holographic glass would have helped, IMHO.
