Entering into Heaven

I would probably say yes on account of living a half decent life. However, if the deity in question was unfair enough to send non-believers to hell for the simple fact that they didn't believe, even if they lived a good life, I'm not sure if I would want to spend the rest of freaking eternity worshipping someone/ something like that anyways.

Deserve? No way. But my ticket's been punched, so I'm not worried. Besides, by the time this question comes up for real and when it counts the most... the matter will most likely already have been settled.

You only get in if you Believe.

Are you a murderous, bigoted, scumbag who raped children? Yep, but I believed in God and accepted Jesus as his son and my Savior. You're in!

Are you a virtuous, kind, giving person who loved everyone, was charitable, and never harmed a fly? Yes, but I'm an atheist. To HELL WITH YOU!

The difference is that if someone has accepted Christ and He is in that person's heart, that person would no longer be the person he was before.

As far as the atheists go, it's unfortunate that they are lost forever, but they have every opportunity to seek Christ while they are still here.

Doesn't change the fact that God doesn't care how good you are He just wants people who love Him.

That's not what it means at all. God is perfect and the only way for us to be made perfect as well is through His son Jesus Christ.

Oh Scout, yes Ghandi is seperated from God. Unfortunately.

You've just died and you're now standing at the gates of Heaven and St Peter (or whoever it's supposed to be) is stood there and asks you a question, he asks you "do you believe that you deserve to enter Heaven?".

What is your answer? Do you believe you deserve to enter Heaven? do you say yes or no?

Keep in mind you don't know what will happen if you say yes, but you don't deserve to enter. Perhaps you say no you don't deserve to enter but being honest he might let you in or alternatively if you say no he might send you for a vacation in hell for a few years.

What's your answer?

The answer would be "Of course I'm getting in". I have the membership card. Did everyone else remember theirs?

In a paraphrase of Groucho, "I don't want to be a part of any place that will have me."

Doesn't worry me. I just live my life as best I can. If I get in or not, it isn't my call - all up to the Big Beard. He either likes me or not.

Going to hell? Possible, doubtful. I don't think there is a Hell anyway, it's Paradise or oblivion.

Which Heaven?

Valhalla? Elysium? Nirvana?
Dante Alighieri's vision of Limbo, the 1st level of the Inferno, is very similar to that of Elysium. :cardie:

I guess Heaven is truly what you make of it. :bolian:
What, the Elysian Fields? :vulcan:
Exactly that.

In fact, famous people as diverse as Julius Caesar, Homer, Socrates, and Saladin (the so-called "virtuous pagans" and the Unbaptised, from Christianity's point of view) are permanent residents of Limbo, according to Dante.
