ENTER! TV & Media Avatar Contest: Re-cast!

Would it work for Roseanne? Becky, that is?

That would be perfect. Becky on Roseanne and also Aunt Viv on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Who's running this joint?!

But, yeah, Becky's perfect.

Does a recast count, if it's necessary to show a character at a younger or older age?

Well, it's a tricky one. The "recast" as defined for this contest is considered a replacement. So, if the original actor stays on, it doesn't count (so, no young Bruce Wayne in Batman movies). Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker is fine, though.

Is the size ok? It's 150X141.

Yeah, that's okay. 150x150 is considered the maximum size, after all.

Does animation count? Tim Daly did the voice of Superman in Superman: The Animated Series but was replaced by George Newbern for Justice League / Justice League: Unlimited.

Sorry, I like your idea, but it would open a can of worms. Almost every Disney cartoon based on a Disney animated feature recast their characters. I'll have to say no to animation.

Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker is fine, though.

Whew! :D

TBH, I was originally going to use Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi, but then I wasn't entirely sure if prequels counted, since they were a "follow-up" in real life, but not in universe. So I ended up going with Anakin, because I figured even if the recasting from Prowse/Jones or Shaw didn't count, I thought the recasting from Lloyd would be OK, since it was also chronological in universe.

Cool. Saved my pic last night, just gotta work on it.

Edit, here's my entry:

I was trying to pick between Rhodey and Becky.
I remember this joke in Rosanne. It starts at 1:03.

Funny, but Sarah is way, way, way, WAY better looking. No contest. I think she said they called her on the set of "Scrubs" "Becky number 2" or "second Becky".

Would a fake re-casting count? Something done as a joke in an episode of a different TV series?

I thought Superman Returns was supposed to follow on chronologically from Superman II and that Routh was supposed to be the Reeve Clark/Superman?

^

Sure, it was supposed to, but since it complete ignores III & IV, it doesn't really work (to me, anyway) as a sequel for that series. And it isn't a full reboot, either, since it references events from Superman II especially. I really think if Bryan Singer had just gone full on new Superman story, it would have been a much better movie and Brandon Routh would still be playin' Superman today, instead of recurring guest star roles in Chuck and Arrow (plus that killer cameo in Scott Pilgrim vs the World)

Last Call! Poll goes up tomorrow-ish.

Edit (sort of): There must be some kind of bug in the system. Can't see why those quotes of my and antichristhill's posts don't work properly, and even if I try to edit, there's no text shown. Had to delete and redo this post, and then figure it out with the Preview Post button.

Just copy and paste the images--no quoting necessary.

Way more effort than I was ready to take.

No, in all honesty, I'm apparently an idiot. Still, for all intents and purposes, the edit function is broken, at least for me. Don't know if it still works for you guys.

I never heard back on my question:

Would a fake re-casting count? Something done as a joke in an episode of a different TV series?

Sorry, must have overlooked your enquiry. I'm not a hundred percent sure what you mean, but in my opening post I stated:

"It can't be the same character in a remake or reboot, is has to be an actual follow-up."

Now, a different series is not a remake or a reboot, necessarily, but it certainly isn't a proper follow-up. If it's a spin-off, it would be a different issue.

Still, I'm not sure I get what you want. What do you have in mind?

Is it too late to change my entry?

No, it's fine. Though I'm a bit puzzled your giving up Saavik. That one was sure to get votes.

And, no, that's not me telling you to stick with Saavik in favor of votes, because that would make me quite the hypocrite.

You're probbly right about the Saavik avatar getting more votes, but I like the character of Travis better and couldn't pass up the opportunity to enter a Blake's 7 avatar. :)
