This week's contest is about MOVIES--and movies only. The subject? The movies that have either swept awards and/or been fabulously popular--but all the praise left you scratching head, and thinking, "This? Really?"

So, any movie that was popular, praised, raked in the dough, but left you completely cold.

And, since this is the TV & Media forum ,no sci-fi or fantasy films.

All avs must conform to BBS standards. I will try to get the poll up by Friday.

My choice: that damn sinking boat movie.

I'm going to find this an extremely difficult contest to vote in, because I actually like the films mentioned so far.

Anyway...

^good one.
Thanks! I was outraged that I actually spent money to see that mess. Sophia Coppola sucked so horribly she actually dragged down her scenes with the great Andy Garcia.
And I was glad when she was killed because it ensured she wouldn't be around to ruin The Godfather IV.

I found out a while ago that she was also one of the handmaidens in "The Phantom Menace." Some might say that she was perfectly cast in that film; I couldn't possibly comment. ;)

First thought was Twilight, but that's not eligible, since I guess it qualifies as someone's fantasy...

^

Avatar was awesome, though! People just hate 'cause its James Cameron's follow up to Titanic instead of the obvious sequel, Lifeboats.

;) :D

Anyway, my entry -

There must be a way to include all those fricking Reality TV shows in a single avatar that won't break the internet.

^good one. I'll never understand the appeal of those movies.

The first time I saw it, I laughed at a few of the jokes, but the second time I watched it, I didn't laugh at any of 'em, not even the ones I thought were funny the first time. I realized it was all about pointin' & laughin' at Ben Stiller's Focker, even when the other characters put him in awkward positions & Focker himself makin' the worst possible decisions to be alienated from everyone else because he didn't want them to point & laugh at him.

Haven't bothered with the sequels at all.
