Lots of shows and movies set up authority figures as foils, antagonists and motivators for the main characters. Enter the best, worst or most memorable bosses, supervisors, teachers, principals, commanding officers and so on. They shouldn't be a protagonist or lead but more of a supporting character, and no SF/F.
