Because George Clooney does the bad good guy so well. :D

Funny, the first time I heard a speech by Rommel in a German history class, I couldn't help wondering why he didn't sound like James Mason.

I think the only one that doesn't qualify as scifi or fantasy would be JR. So we'll make that one your entry, then?

I never watched Dallas, so I have no idea. Was there nothing appealing or admirable about him? If he's just a bastard through and through, and not someone the audience related to in any way, then he's just a villain and not really appropriate. Some who watched the show will have to weigh in.

Al Swearingen from Deadwood would be a good example. He started out as just evil, but the more we learned about him, the more we liked him, even though we knew how dangerous he could be. He was smart, funny and cared about protecting the town. But he was also a brutal killer. If he was just a brutal, evil man, then he's the villain of the piece and not someone the audience would care about.

I'll delay the poll a bit until someone can help me make this call.

Yeah, J.R. was 95% bastard, 5% S.O.B., or some other ratio.

His only redeeming quality was love for (most of) his family, but he'd screw any one of them over if he needed to.

Even after the "This Is Your Life" ending to the series, he was bad again in the TV movies.

I miss (good) Dallas.

OK, Ar-Pharazon & Aragorn, do you want to try new entries? Doesn't look like you have replacements. I'll give it one more day before the poll goes up. Some suggestions:
The Corleones, The Dude, Cool Hand Luke, Alfie, Fitz from "Cracker," Walter White, Luther, maybe even Boyd Crowder.

One of my favorite actors, movies and "good" bad guys: William Holden, The Wild Bunch, Pike Bishop.

No, I don't want to try new entries. So go on without me.

Wait a minute... J.R. and Sue Ellen had a kid and he treated his son really well. So maybe he is sort of a good guy, well at least to his legitimate son. He also had an illegitimate son with a girlfriend, wasn't so nice to him.

That damn dodgy Hostpic.org site is down again, so I’m re-posting my entry:

EDIT: The site is back up now. I don’t know what the problem is with Hostpic.org. It goes down more often than Paris Hilton.

Ah ha! In that case, JR is in. I'll consider that your entry, Aragorn. :bolian:

OK, now that's all settled..............LAST CALL (again)! I'll try to get the poll up this afternoon.
