I'm glad someone else has broached the subject of cartoon characters. Saves me some humiliation in offering up one of:

A mermaid becoming human via magic is fantasy, and a talking mouse building flying machines is sci-fi; so they count, dammit.
(And for what its worth, when doing the Google searches for both characters, there was substantially more Rule 34 of Gadget than Ariel, at least on the first few pages. Remember that when you think of the Internet.)
