OF course -- you descriminate based on what knowledge you have at the time -- that's why kids don't just watch anything. They may not fully understand why, but they know they don't like something.
At least ... I never watched anything that came on.

Re: ENTER: SF/F Avatar Contest: "Your Childhood Sci Fi & Fantasy Crush

Kids watch TV all the time, and most of it is crap. They just don't realize its crap. I've tried to go back and watch some of the stuff I watched when I was little and a lot of it is terrible.

If this wasn't SF&F, I'm sure there'd be a lot more entries of a certain someone from Who's the Boss?

Re: ENTER: SF/F Avatar Contest: "Your Childhood Sci Fi & Fantasy Crush

i went back and rewatched the old G1 Transformers cartoon and that's utter dreck. i rewatched the first few Visionaries cartoons and tehy were good. Thundercats was iffy.

i rewatched the even older Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and loved it, even if it was horribly dated...

Back when Starbuck was a dude....with really awesome hair. :adore:
Heh. He was my crush, too, despite the hair  I was something like 4 or 5 years old (?) at the time.

Another childhood SF/F crush was James Naughton's character in TV series "Planet of the Apes"... but I don't think that one would get many votes, how many people even remember the show?

Oh well, as long as we're being honest... :D

I had a crush on him, too, when mom took me to see The Return of the Jedi. It was the first SW movie I saw.

I wonder if I would've liked Han Solo better if I had seen the previous movies. I thought he came off a bit dumb in RTOTJ.

Yes! And Richard Hatch was no slouch back then either.

To me, he was a dreamboat in the original SW. I'm a sucker for scoundrels. ;)

I loved that show. I wish it had lasted a lot longer. I considered entering Naughton too, but I had to go with

Jon-Erik Hexum from Voyagers! Those eyes...that voice... *sigh* I still miss him.

Someone remembers! Well, I'm entering it then:

BTW, I have to stress that I didn't watch it when it was first on (I've just realized it was in 1974), that was before I was born... It was shown in my country years later! I just wanted you all to know. ;)

I remember thinking Han was so old, like 100 or something! :rommie: Yuck!!! Now Luke just looks like a dopey kid to me (still cute, but not exactly Ben Browder) and I can't imagine how he'd think his sister would ever choose him over the hot bad boy. Funny how that works.

And anyone want to post the original Apollo, you got my vote.

Not only did I watch it the first time (and think he was dreamy!) but as an adult, I rented it on Netflix to "relive the magic." HA! That was a mistake. It was far more impressive when I was in grade school.

Vote! :techman: He sings, too. :adore: Dreamy.

I bought the DVDs. :p Now that's loyalty. Actually, I tuned in because of Roddy McDowall (I'm a longtime fan), and whooeee, the beefcake! Plus a Trek actor, Mark Lenard as the lead gorilla bad guy. Loved every minute.
