So, the theme of this contest is the other Sci Fi Captains, meaning the non-Star Trek Captains. It needs to be from something Sci-Fi, and they don't need to have technically been the captain a ship if they have the military rank of Captain in a Sci Fi show, although being a military officer isn't required.

Whether its an actual rank or just their role is fine, but they actually have to have been called or labeled Captain in some way. Also, if military they could have been promoted later, as long as they were known as a Captain at least for awhile.

normal Avatar contest rules apply.

Never give up, never surrender!

(And yes, he is technically Commander Taggart, but he is called "Captain" several times.)

Ok, going with something obscure and out the left field. Going with JMS before B5. Going with...

Captain Power:

Technically he was a Colonel, but everyone called him Captain and he did command a squad and a ship.

As long as they were called Captain, its fine. Han is possibly borderline, but I think he was referred to as captain of the Millennium Falcon once or twice, so I'd say he counts.

OK, sure, technically his rank was Commander, but he was captain of the C-57D, and I believe he referred to himself as "captain" when he was addressing the entire crew.

Samantha Carter was only second in command of SG1 but held the rank of captain for the first few years in Stargate SG1, later commanded the starship Prometheus and briefly the Atlantis expedition.

He also had the military rank of captain in TESB, and was referred to as such several times on Hoth.

Anybody want to take Taggart? I'm thinking of switching as there should be at least one woman of colour in the contest.
