Yeah, I guess that's okay.

Yeaa but the whole thing was just a way to cheer up the kid.

Well, I don't know, it has been a while since I've seen the film. What say the rest of you?
As you wish.........

I have to agree with your original thought, Daneel. The story presented in "The Princess Bride" is the primary one of the movie. It is accepted as "what happened", because it doesn't change. Between its presentation and the grandfather's reading of the book, nothing is altered.

However, your suggestion of Buttercup's imagining herself actually marrying Humperdinck would qualify, because it IS a change in that story.

Mod agreement! I guess that seals it then... Sorry, FSM, you'll have to enter another avatar.

BTW, I think I'll extend the deadline to tomorrow, or maybe Monday morning, due to my not remembering what an insanely busy weekend I have. Yeah, the poll will go up Monday morning sometime, so you have until then to get your entries in.

Yes, the main story is a work of fiction being read to a child, but that doesn't really matter. In that respect, how is it significantly different from any other fictional tale that we read or see? We, the viewers, are still invested in the primary storyline, which is that of Wesley, Buttercup, Inigo, etc. Simply being a "story-within-a story" isn't enough to qualify for this contest, I'm afraid (and that goes for anyone thinking of entering something else along those lines).

Sorry FSM. It was a nice try, but you'll have to pick something else.

Last day to enter, everybody!

^Keep your pants on, I'm working on it. :p

ETA: And it's up.

Jetfire, I don't think you really specified which avatar you wanted to enter, but you seemed to be leaning towards the second one, so I went with that for the competition.
