Those need to be made into avatars, like the one you're using on the BBS. 150 x 150 pixels max. Those both go up to 180.
Yes. For it to be an avatar, as this is an avatar contest, you need to fit the size requirements, which is 150 X 150 pixels max. Use a photo program to resize the image.
I think that might be from Contact, the planet where Ellie ends up at the end, though the OP does say movies aren't allowed.
