ENTER! Misc. Av. Contest: Your Country's Wonders of the World

Locutus of Bored

Yo, Dawg! I Heard You Like Avatars...
In Memoriam
The theme for this week is ancient, modern, natural, technological, or other Wonders of the World from your home country. They can be places and things already officially recognized as Wonders of the World (see Wiki link above for suggestions), or things you think should be recognized as Wonders.

No media related entries are permitted (though that shouldn't be a problem with this one), and as always, the usual board avatar rules apply.

I'll put the voting thread up on Sunday.

Good luck, everyone. :)

Something a bit more modern:

The Forth Rail Bridge, near Edinburgh.
A few years back in a poll by The Scotsman newspaper, it was voted the First Wonder of Scotland. :bolian:

^ Good choice. That's what I was thinking of doing. Off to consider another. :bolian:

Edit: Half Dome - Because it's there.

Too sarcastic? Seriously I'm not sure if I'm allowed to be sarcastic in this contest or not.

My other thought was the Scarlet Johansen naked pic but no media.

Yep, sarcasm is fine. As is Scarlet. Read that second part however you like. ;)

Nice. Every time I travel to Vegas, I intend to stop at Hoover Dam to see it. But something always comes up, so I've never managed to get there. (The dam, not Vegas.) One of these days, I'll get a chance to see it.

I can't decide. Should I go with
gutenbergava.jpg

Gutenberg's modern book-printing

or
patentmotorwagenava.jpg

Carl Benz's Patent Motorwagen 01, the first automobile of the world?

I like the picture of the motorwagon but would argue that Gutenberg's was the greater wonder (just to be helpful :) )

One of Canada's great wonders - the aurora borealis (not just Canada's I know, but this photo was taken in Saskatchewan :techman:)
