ENTER! Misc Av Contest: For The Birds

1.jpg

The Scarlet Tanager

I hope the size of my Tanager is not ill-eagle! It is sometimes a bird-en to get the correct size, but I know that it is a cardinal rule.

If I could make a recommendation? I would suggest cropping the image to focus in on the bird and the branch more, so it fills a 150x150 pixel square and gives a better view of the bird.

I couldn't find the original image you used online, so I just blew up the avatar you posted. It's a little distorted because of the small source image and the different aspect ratio, but it has a better view of the bird and branch.

If you have the original photo, I can crop and resize it for you. If your computer's image editing software isn't very good, you can do everything online as well. Both Photobucket and Imgur have built in photo editors, or there are other sites you can use:

Here is my entry a picture I took last summer.
One of the bald eagles from Decorah, Iowa.

I love Decorah and most of the rest of Iowa. I miss it. And, I miss the footlong hotdogs in East Dubuque! :)

Thank you so very much, Locutus! :techman:

Okay, here we go. I haven't decided which to use yet.

Wild turkeys in the backyard.

Or baby robins on the back porch.

Those puns are, truly, fowl.

ha HA!!!...soooooooo...it's true!...toucan play at that game!

Truth to tell, I was just winging it!
I think everybody should just keep their pinions to themselves.

Nah...there would still be peep-le that wood peck away and screetch and t-hen make a barnyard fuss! :)

Oh, and I vote for your beautiful picture of the Robin's Egg!

^I was going to say could I do a raven even though crow's have entered the contest (All ravens are crows but all crows aren't ravens) but now it looks like HIjol beat me to it.

I can change it later if dual entries aren't allowed but come on, I'm from Baltimore, birth place of Edgar Alan Poe.

Quoth the Raven “Let Him Enter.”

^that's fine by me.

Out of respect for my Friend bbjeg , I have removed my crows, and welcome his entry, from the "Birthplace of the Star Spangled Banner", Baltimore! :techman:

^very nice. There are tons of chickadees in the yard of my mother's house. They're adorable.

Absolutely, and they're very curious birds. In this particular set I shot years ago, we went out to a nearby trail with some suet and had them eating out of my hands. At one point, I had two of them eating out of my hands at once and one of them looks like it's telling the other one off.

Here's another one from that set, this time with one of them striking a pose. Can't make up my mind about which one to use now, though I think the background is better on the first one:

I'd go for the baby robins, RJ
Thank you, both. I guess I'll pick one of the robins and forget the turkeys. :D

It seems this thread has taken a tern for the worse.

:guffaw: :techman:

Someone is gonna get stuck with the bill!
At this point, I think everybody wishes we'd just flock off.

I like this one better, for what that's worth. You can see his little face more clearly. :)
