Ah, you're right. The character was based on Kim Peek but it's not an actual biopic. I withdraw my entry.

I truly am sorry, and it did occur to me that it was based on one (maybe two) cases according to the writer's commentary.

I love the movie. First time I've ever seen a non sic fi or action pic in the theater that moved me and showed a stupid kid that movies can be about almost anything. My favorite roles for both Cruise and Hoffmann
