ENT references in Shat's new book

Captain59

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I'm at page 40, and already there has been three direct references to "Enterprise." Of course, they're planted there by the Reeves-Stevens, but they're there nonetheless. I'm looking forward to many more.

What are the references, Captain59?

I remember being told one of books refered to Archer bouncing the toddler Kirk on his knee. I think my leg was being pulled though... ;)

Don't the Reeves-Stevens essentially write Shatner's books?

And didn't they work on Enterprise?

So, no big surprise. ;)

Those books have references to all of the Trek series. There was one where Kirk recognised Sisko from their meeting in Trials and Tribble-ations.

The main dorm at Stsrfleet Academy is called Archer Hall, and Captain Archer was there to open it.

There is a place called the Tucker Systematics Center.

Denobulans have been mentioned.

My favorite so far (I'm only 1/4 the way through the book) is T'Pol is still alive, an Ambassador, and spoke at the Academy recently.

In fact Shatner's Star Trek Memories and Movie Memories were both "co written" by someone else.

lets be completely honest about this. Yes Judith and Garfield were writers on Enterprise, but this, and I cannot stress this enough, they were ACTORS on Enterprise! Now there's one thing to be positive about actors and their are ego-whores first and foremost other wise they would have learned how to type.

Sweet. Yeah, it would make sense that a lot of transporter hubs and stations in the Starfleet universe of the Kirk and Picard eras would be named in honor of Emory Erickson, seeing as how he invented the transporter to begin with. Even if we never see or hear his name in the "later" series and movies you can pretty much bet it's plastered in a lot of places on Earth and beyond.

Man, I wouldn't reference "Daedalus" at all. That's an episode to be forgotten, for sure! (I can't place blame on any particular actor or writer... It just didn't seem to work. Would have made a fine TOS episode, though.)

And people who are shocked that Shatner doesn't completely write his books, big whoop. Laura Ingalls Wilder didn't write the final drafts of her books. Her daughter Rose Wilder did.

A boy by the name of Aki Kimura is mentioned. His great-grandmother is also mentioned, and that she was in Starfleet and fought the Xindi. Kimura is the last name of Hoshi's husband, according to the bio screen not shown in "In A Mirror Darkly, Part II," so the boy is meant to Hoshi's great-grandson.

Also, MACOs are mentioned when talking about the history of Starfleet training.

Cool. I'm hoping to have the book from a local library sometime this week...have a copy on hold and eagerly awaiting it. I know some of the online reviews have been harsh and negative, but TREK novels aren't always supposed to be a slice of Faulkner or Melville. They're usually just well-crafted and corny sci-fi potboilers for the fans.

I know this is not the proper place to give my views on the book, but there are some things I really do not like about it and find completely unnecessary that I'm surprised the Reeves-Stevens put in there. Or who knows, may be they were The Shat's idea. When I'm done with the book, I'll post my feelings over in the Lit forum. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not the only one with the views I have.

But I'll tell you, the ENT references are a lot of fun to find. Archer Hall has been mentioned at least five times, and Denobulans at least three times. Good, good stuff.

There is a place at the Starfleet Training Center called Aldrin Hall, but I don't what it's a reference to, if anything.

Also, a small assembly hall called Lily One is mentioned, which is in reference to Lily Sloane from Star Trek: First Contact.
