p.s. message to Abrams and Michael Giacchino or who ever is going to compose for XI Try to top that if you can

Fuck topping it, they can't.

Abrams, Berman, Braga, and all you other later day 'Trek producers You can't top that bitches! Look on the greatness that is the 1701 and weep for your own unworthiness to even mention her name, to say nothing of remaking her history.

PAL. Yuck!

Neil

To the majority of the movie-going public, it was overblown and much too long. To me, and fans like me who had waited years subsisting on re-runs and a minor cartoon, it was perfect. Therein lies the difference that few can understand today.

That palpable love for his vessel had allowed him to recover from various attempts at mind control during the series. It always brought him back from the brink.

Every time I watch that, I do not begrudge those five minutes. That ship is a work of art. Okay, so I question the beauty passes of the light fixtures and the top of the drydock, but for the most part, that sequence is just...wow.

And you have to love how Scotty takes the long way around. Past the drydock. over the starboard side of the saucer, around the neck, to dock on the portside docking port. That man knew his captain.

I wasn't putting down the scene in question, which contains Jerry Goldsmith's finest moment from a career filled with great moments, I was putting down that the music was ruined by being from a PAL video and thus throwing the pitch off of the music. For a scene where the music is critical, it destroys the scene.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, Chris, but please don't bump old threads.

What is wrong with commenting on an old thread if you have something to say about the subject?

I remember seeing the Enterprise being destroyed in TSFS and thinking: "It took only 2 movies until they ran out of ideas." I was absolutely livid!!! All those years waiting for Trek to return and some hack shlub blows up the original Enterprise just to get an extra million at the box-office. It wasn't the same after that.

I recall TMP and Kirk's tears at being reunited with his ship. Now its like," Meh! I'll get another looks just like it." The rest of the TOS films seemed to ring hollow.

Amen, baby.

Because threads die off for a reason. It's generally accepted as board etiquette that you don't bump old threads. The time frame for "old" depends on the forum you're in. In a fast-paced forum like The Neutral Zone, bumping a week-old thread would be bad form. Here, if it hasn't been posted in for a month, I'd consider it dead. If you don't see a recent thread that pertains to what you want to say, start a new one.

And I'm sorry if Chris misinterpreted what I said; he certainly didn't need to delete his post. :(
