Ok well I don't remember if I posted here, so now I will

My screen name is Ravnos, otherwise Aj, outside of star trek I don't really watch tv, unless you count anime, and football (which i love to watch and play). I am 21, I like reading books by lots of different authors from different genres , some of my favorites are george r r martin, robert jordan, Jk rowling (please no harry potter comments, ty). I also play a number of rpg's such as D&D , and Vampire (as you can see from the name) and also, I recently kicked my Everquest habbit (almost 6 months clean now)

My favorite among the Star Treks i Ds9 , then TnG then ENT , then ToS then Voyager, i was never really exposed to ToS so my vision is probably clouded by that.

Well Ravnos, I don't remember if I welcomed you either but I won't leave you out regardless... You're very welcome! :D

I have been here a while now so I thought I might poke my head in to say hello :)

I chose my screen name of ColouredChalk so as to overstimulate everyone (Nevermind, old Simpsons reference) :D My name is Matt and I am another Australian Trek fan on this board.

I love all of the Trek series, with DS9 and Enterprise being my personal favourites. That then makes TOS, TNG and Voyager as my equal second favourites  I try to read all of the Trek books but I'm falling behind cause Pocket books keep bringing out more and more! Of course, I'm not complaining. If you haven't checked out Trek books before, make sure you have a look, the quality for the past few years has been truly impressive.

Other hobbies include some occasional PC or PS2 gaming, reading the fantastic Harry Potter books, and the most important one - spending as much time as I can with my great kids :) They are growing up too damn fast.

So, hello all

Well, i'm trying to kick my lurking habit, so i thought i'd post here.

My real life name is Rosie, i'm another UK member, but i'm from Wales. Seems i'm the baby of the forum, i'm only 14. I like all the Trek's, but DS9 and ENT are definatly my favourite's, with VOY a not very close second. Its strange, I seem to remeber seeing DS9 in its first run over here, which would have made me about 4 or 5, but that can't be right, i wouldn't be able to remember.Oh well. I've definatly seen most of it.

I like all seasons of ENT, but my fave is definatly season 3. Apart from Trek, i watch some sci-fi (SG1 and Atlantis, sometimes quantum leap) and for some strange reason, i still watch Casualty (I call it morbid fascination; after all, the doctrs die more often than the patients). I love reading and drawing. And i'm crazy about LOTR. I don't like it as much as Trek, but its not far off.

Oh, my username should tell you 2 things about me 1) I'm a girl and 2) I'm a bit crazy.

I think i've said too much, so ciao! :)

Hi,

I'm known as htiek here, which is my real name - Keith - spelt backwards, and I'm 29. I've been interested in Trek for about 10 years and I like all the series "incarnations". I think Picard is the ideal captain, but I appreciate the others and Janeway...I think she does a good female version of Kirk :D I, like many it would seem, think of Archer as an alter ego of "GWB el Presidente", but thankfully more intelligent than said real world poltical leader.

I'm located in Melbourne, Australia although I'm originally from the United Kingdom. I've been to university, but not the top institutions  - still, the education was good (yeah, yeah...I know "university of hard knocks", etc, etc. I've experienced that too...too much if you ask me). I studied a BA and a post grad in library studies.

My hobbies...philosophy, ufology, photography, spiritual science, movies, etc.

That's me, I suppose.

Well, since I haven't had a chance to post in forever, I figured I'd fill y'all in a bit on wazzup with me. Some of you will recall that I am pregnant. Well, we found out that it is a boy and the due-date is February 5th. We are doing quite well (this kid is a kicker!) :)

Also, Hubby just left on his six-month deployment last week :( , my daugter just turned eight, and my son just turned three.

What happened to the "Baby on Board" sig? Bring it back! It's even more fun now that I know it's a boy. Thought of any names?

There wasn't room for it with my new siggy down there :( But I was going to make a new baby ticker, anyway - one that reflects the fact that it is a boy. I'll be putting that up in a few days, I hope!

Me and hubby settled on the name "Kyle William" the day before he went out to sea. Actually, it was hubby's choice. I am awful at picking names :p He chose the last two names, too. And did a pretty good job, I'll tell ya! :D

I haven't been in here for a while so...

Welcome to Ravnos , ColouredChalk , loopylass and htiek !!!

*hugs all around* :D

Hi, my (screen) name is Tarantulas. That's not the plural of the desert spider tarantula. It's the name of a character in a computer generated TV series called Beast Wars that aired in the late 1990s. Tarantulas is a Transformer, a member of the Predacon faction, one of the bad guys who give the Maximals big problems on the Earth, four million years ago. The Predacons are the descendants of the Decepticons, who fought the Great War with the Autobots in the original Transformers TV series that aired starting in 1984. There are many different TV series and toys and voice actors and conventions. It's an entirely different mythos from Star Trek. Tarantulas was a mad scientist and secret agent, a Lieutenant in the Predacon Secret Police. He was the favorite character of the Beast Wars writers. I identify with him.

I've been a Trekkie (not this newfangled "Trekker" name) since the series was first broadcast on NBC. I missed the first episode to be aired, "The Man Trap," because I was doing something else and couldn't be home to watch it. I asked my neighbor the next morning how it looked to him, and he said it was "pure trash" (seemingly a contradiction in terms). Wowee, was he ever wrong! I watched all of the other episodes and recorded some of them on reel to reel audio tape, then listened to them again and again, visualizing what happened in my mind. "Elaan of Troyius" was the best visualiztion episode ever.

I've had a rather interesting life, I suppose. Born in 1951, I joined the Navy in 1971 to avert the Vietnam draft. I volunteered to go to the Navy Nuclear Power program and was assigned to the nuclear fast attack submarine USS Snook (SSN592). I was on board the Snook from 1973 to 1977, and had some interesting adventures. It was decommissioned in 1985 and "made into razor blades" as we say when we're talking about how The Beast met its end.

When I got out of the Navy in 1977, I went to work at a Department of Energy reactor that made plutonium for nuclear weapons. In 1986 I came to Arizona to work at the largest nuclear power plant in the country. Right now my job is to design websites for our plant departments. In my spare time, I volunteer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office as a Posse member. I've gone through the extensive training they offer to become a "Qualified Armed Posseman," which means I can carry a gun while on duty. We have to buy our own uniforms and guns and shoes and everything else - the only thing that's issued to us is the rounds for our guns and the OC (pepper) spray that we carry. I run a website about our Posse at http://www.posse.net.

I'm an amateur (ham) radio operator, Advanced class, and my call sign is W7DPS.

I do enjoy the Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Andromeda TV series, and I really like "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda." I enjoy Andromeda so much that I purchased the domain name of http://www.saveandromeda.com and built a website and discussion board around it to give Andromeda fans a way to lobby to continue the series.

I consider myself to be a Barry Goldwater Conservative, whatever that means. I am in favor of Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms, and I believe that the regime change that removed Saddam Hussein from power was one of the best things that has happened in the last 50 years. I love to discuss politics, so if you say something negative about the USA PATRIOT Act, you might see a comment from me in response.

This will probably get tons of negative responses in this thread, or tons of PMs in favor. Or maybe nothing. You never know.

Oh dear... So many new people popping by! Tarantulas, you are very welcome! If you're into politics try out TNZ when you reach 100 posts... :D

Welcome Tarantulas !! :D

You have done some very interesting things in your life. Makes me feel like I have accomplished ZIP!!

Seriously though, welcome to our cozy corner. And, as Ulva said, you should visit The Neutral Zone when you reach 100 posts. I lurk quite a bit in there and sometimes post but it sounds like it could be right up your alley.

And, BTW, my uncle was in the U.S. Navy the same time as you...

Hey, my name is Mike. I've been exploring this board since last season and decided to join up. I've been a Star Trek fan since I was kid. I started with Next Generation and watched DS9 when it came on. But so far Enterprise has been my favorite Star Trek series.

Along with Star Trek, I like watching football (Browns) and Star Gate SG1 and Atlantis.

I'm currently attending Edinboro University for my computer science degree.

I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys and gals.
