I believe so. But my headcanon wouldn't. In my mind, Pakleds were very different in this time period.

Discovery's engine room will be another redress of a contemporary locale. In this case, the name of that locale will be cleverly worked into the script, because the warp core will be conveniently stored on Deck 7, Section Eleven.

The Discovery's engine room will be filmed, on location, in Dogma-95 style, in a disused bus station in Seattle.

Maybe Pakleds were one of the subject races of the Klingon Empire back in the day. The Empire's cheap labor force.

Very industrial, with lots of pipes and catwalks, please. The NIF Target Chamber in Into Darkness was awesome. No lava lamps or plasma balls, please.

I'm going with NIF style as well. I bet they're using a lot of green screen.
