I guess mixing those energy drinks with alcohol is still in? I could never figure that out. It's not supposed to be too good for you, is it? A student once told me it's no different than Irish Coffee or something like that. Except I can make decaf Irish Coffee. And, I'm not going to have six or eight Irish Coffees in one night.
I'll pop one of those 5 oz. energy drinks if I'm facing a long car trip. At my age, too much coffee means too many stops.
Otherwise, I've tended to avoid too much caffeine if I have to stay awake and think or do something requiring more dexterity than driving down the interstate. Because while caffeine keeps you awake and alert, it doesn't mean you're being very effective or efficient. Just more frantic.
