Enemies Faceoff (Season 1)

Who was the biggest pain in the Voyager crew's butt in season 1? Who do you think caused them the most grief? You can choose two.
Vote in the poll.

I know that some of these characters aren't "bad guys" per se, but they were the primary antagonists in the episodes that featured them. That's why they're on the poll. After a week or so, I'll shut down this thread and we can move on to the next seasons. After all seven seasons are done we'll have one final poll featuring all the winners to decide the ultimate bad guy(or gal).

I'll say Jabin, 'cause he put the pressure on Janeway that made her blow up the Array, and Seska, for obvious reasons.

I went with the Komar - They tried to suck the life out of the crew's brains. So not cool.
I also went with Sulan - Even for a Vidiian he was pretty bad. Taking that poor redshirt's face and wearing it like a mask so Torres would love him. Kinda sick.

I think it's a given Seska is going to win this one. I voted for her, incidentally.

Second up: Jetrel. He gave Voyager an excuse to double back on its course, big time.

Okay, seriously, he's a war criminal. Who feels tremendous guilt; true, and that's what made him interesting and this one of S1's best episodes. He's more of a tragic antihero than an antagonist, but I'll make my votes how I make my votes, so there...

I'm kind of surprised Seska is getting so many votes in season 1. She didn't cause them too much trouble that season. Now season 2 she definitely screwed Voyager over big time. She'd have gotten one of my votes in the next poll for sure.

If an enemy wins in an earlier poll they won't be included in the next season they appear in, since they will already be in the final face off.

Aw. But if Seska won in the first two seasons (and even, technically, the third), it'd simplify things as you'd have less people to run off against in the final face-off. ;)

Think about it, though. The only reason Seska ran was because she was caught. There was no way to know how much she did to gain the Kazon's allegiance before the replicator blew up in their faces.

I voted for Seska and Maje Cullah

Precisely. Somehow, I don't think she spent all of Season 1 just twiddling her thumbs and until an opportunity came to her. She worked to make them happen on her own. And not all the problems she caused were just directly in relation to the Kazon alone. She'd been quietly working against the Maquis all along, and when she ended up in the DQ with them and the Starfleet crew, she simply shifted her priorities, starting almost immediately in trying to create even more interpersonal problems than they already had within the merged crew. I think every move that woman made was calculated and devious from Day 1. She was just a lot more blatant about it in Season 2.

Good point. I almost forgot she was there, with the other Maquis in 'Parallax' when they were urgin' Chakotay to mutiny against Janeway because of Torres's assault against Carey.

That's hardly fair.

The eventual losers who will show up across these season faceoffs get a second attempt at winning a season, named as The Big Bad, not that there are many, but the winners don't get a second innings? That's discrimination for being "too awesome". Besides, these "should be coming in second place, silver medal, "default" the two most beautiful words in the English language, hold the beauty queen's trail, first runner ups" are going to have to face off against Seska eventually and probably lose any way because they never stood a chance because it's totally false hope and humouring the... This girl is in a league of her own.

Is Susannah and Alice's Queens different Characters how?

Season one's Seska the Empire Builder, season two's Seska the indian Rapist, season three's Seska the impish Hologram and season 7's Screw you "fated death" my ass... I WILL RESTRUUCTURE THE ENTIRE DANMED UNIVERSE TO SURVIVE... Seska, from the four seasons she appeared are each dynamically differnet takes on villainy. Martha is kinda playing different people since life is a journey not a destination... and if Seska has to face off against herself, you have to wonder which Seska is the definitive Ultimate Seska?

Yeah, I voted for Seska.

Besides winning in season one is piss easy for this lady. I want to know if she can make headway in season 7 against the Borg Queen, who herself is going to be sweeping through as an easy victor having appeared in a couple seasons herself but she'll get knocked off too after an easy victory in season 5... We won't get to see Alice vs Susannah in season 7 which should split the vote and make way for someone else... O, maybe even Seska?

Hey? Isn't this affirmative action?

Uh, hell no.

I want seven different villains in the final poll. Not four Seska's, two Borg Queens, etc. (The Queen will be one character, even though she was played by two actresses.)

Edit: Actually I could have two polls. One for the final excluding previous winners, and one to see who is the biggest bad ass in that particular season.

Are you frakking kidding me? Sulan killed a man and grafted his face on just so he could entice Torres to sleep with him, and Seska the Betrayer is the most evil of the season?

...

That's what I was going to say before I reread the question and realized I totally got it wrong.

You do realize that metaphorically, that is exactly how all men get women to sleep with them who do not instantly fall in love with them at first sight? Which is why most casual relationships get skewered under a fracturing web of pointed lies... Though Faces is loosely a pisstake on Cyrano De Bergerac if you squint a little. :)

I was so surprised to find out this episode wasn't written by a woman who had just been dumped by a man who was a two faced lying pschopath. I guess you can't judge a book by a cover.
