So has it been said if Val and Peter in this draft? I can never keep track.
Correction: It wouldn't work for a modern audience. I think, given the right people, it could make for an excellent film. The problem is, it isn't 40 years ago, and I doubt there's a filmmaker with the cojones to give it a go.
Does the role require acting, because Ford decided to stop showing emotion 20 years ago.

Yeah, can't see Harrison Ford as playing gruff. Cantankerous maybe, but not gruff. I don't find he puts enough investment in his characters these days, and even in interviews he comes across disinterested and emotionally distant.
Ben Kingsley just got cast as Mazer Rackham.

The only OSC scifi I've read was the first Homecoming book, which was fun, I dunno why the rest of them dropped off my radar. As far as the Enderverse, I looked it up, and the aliens are colloquially referred to as Buggers. Now, is this because they look like bugs, or is there also an anal-probing reference in there?
Speaker is the only book I've read in one sitting.
I almost got through Order of the Phoenix once, but I zonked with about 80 pages left.
"Speaker" is just as good as "Ender's Game," but Ender wins out for me just because of how excited I got from reading it. No book had ever had that effect on me before.

This article says that Ender's Game is intended to be released in March 2013. March? That doesn't sound like the studio has great expectations for it. I was hoping for a big-budget summer release. At least it's not January, which would be a really bad sign. By the way, that article I linked says that Stilston is to be played by Brendan Meyer, if anyone is interested.

I followed the production of Game Of Thrones since the day the acquisition of the adaptation rights by HBO was announced by George R.R. Martin. It was fun following the casting announcements, waiting for the first pictures, first footage and so on ...
A couple of the real hurdles to making this movie involves getting kids of the right age who can play the parts and the way the kids' ages advance through the course of the movie. I saw a suggestion somewhere that the movie be animated rather than live action in order to overcome these problems. That might work, but I'm not quite convinced just yet. Perhaps putting James Cameron on it and having him do it something like Avatar could work. I'm not quite convinced yet, but maybe.
The one thing I'm most afraid of with this movie being made is that they'll try to make it a kid's movie. For some reason, in the last couple of decades, the movie studios/book publishers/other producers of media have decided that the age of the protagonist is the age of the target audience. Even though Ender is a kid, I wouldn't say that Ender's Game is a story for kids. There are too many things in there that would be disturbing for kids, and many of the themes and discussions in the book are beyond a child's ability to appreciate. (The same goes for the Hunger Games series. Those books are marketed to tweens and teens, but they're not really appropriate for kids of that age, especially Mockingjay, but that's another discussion.) Anyway, I worry that the studios will try to make it for kids, which will ruin it.

They'll make it PG13 and aim it at teenagers. That's where the money is.
