End o' Season 5 DS9 Evacuation and the Bolians

bentbastard

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
When the Federation evacuated DS9 Jake Sisko stayed behind, after which Rom said "its not safe". If one assumes that this was about him being a Federation citizen why did the Bolians stay? Surely they would be at risk as they are part of the Federation too.

:bolian:

Isn't there a Bank of Bolias though? Maybe there is a group of Bolians who aren't in the Federation.

Maybe the Bolians were Bajoran citizens or members of somesort of humanitarian NGO like Bolians Without Borders. At any rate, there was little likelyhood that the Dominion was going to start arresting or harassing civilians. They needed the Bajorans to remain peaceful and not start another disruptive resistance.

Yeah there's legitimate reasons why you'd take a chance and hang with the Dominion. Now Jake that was pretty reckless for him to hang around....it worked out OK though.

The Bolians could have had arrest warrants on them elsewhere, perhaps they were part of a trade delegation or spy network. Everyone has a reason for the things they do.

Didnt stop the Allied Forces arresting Japanese etc during WWII. Besides this sort of logic doesnt seem to fit the Dominion Profile.

In the big picture scenario this small thing doesnt matter all that much. DS9 thrives on diversity of its extra's and the occasional blue-skin body walking behind our 'heroes' does well. But, as an avid follower of the much underesitmated blue-skinned beauties these sort of inconsistencies disturb me. But I'll get over it. :bolian:

It's not the Jem'Hadar profile. It's most definitely the Vorta profile. In fact, it was exactly what Weyoun WAS doing.

DUKAT
I've been waiting for this moment
for five years.

DAMAR
First, we reclaim Terok Nor,
and then... on to Bajor.

WEYOUN
Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Or must I remind you that the
Dominion just signed a non-
aggression pact with Bajor?

DUKAT
The Dominion might've. But I
never did.

WEYOUN
The Dominion will honor its
treaty. And as a member of the
Dominion, you will honor it as
well.

It's really a simple case of divide-and-conquer. The Dominion has always made as many peaceful alliances as they can. It takes a potential foe off of the battlefield, allowing them to deal with one threat at a time.
