elements from ENT to bring to XI?

Temis

I don't think evolved had anything to do with it. And I do agree that Earth of the 23rd century (of which we only saw in the films never the series) and the 24th century should feature a safer more comfortable (if nothing else due to the advance of technology.

But just using our own human history, when threats aren't seen or percieved (whether internal or external) society needs to forget about the military.

In the 100 years prior to ENT, Earth just suffered a bad war (and really its vestiages are the only bad things we here about such as the recreated scene in Encounter at Farpoint), but afterwards, Earth is said to have gotten its shit together. Instead of being terrified about its first alien encounter, its inspired by it. It rebuilds itself. And in 50 years time hungar, poverty, desease and war are gone. A World government is formed without a war being involved.
That isn't the type of thing that is going to make you build up a strong military presents either on Earth (landbase) or an intersteller force.

It just isn't logical, with what has been mentioned on DS9, TNG, First Contact and VOY.

It appears that only Boomers faced any sort of threat. And I can't imagine that there are many of them. Add to that the distance and time it took for their runs, people on Earth wouldn't really be woried by it.

So that aspect didn't bother me, and I was glad to see Earth start out as naive and unprepared. I just wish three primary things would have happened.

One is that the Boomers and of course by extension Travis was presented as someone who was raised ina environment that was violent and could be deadly, and saw people on Earth has being naive.

That they would have used already established races or events to give Earth its wake up call.

And that for its first season and a half would have managed to present that situation in a more engrossing manner (frankly I think this could have been helped dramatically by initial crafting more interesting characters. Just a little to bland, to carry off that type of story telling).

Some of the common sense "Enterprise" brought to uniforms and other wardrobe would be nice, too. Eliminating pockets and fastenings may have been intended to intrigue viewers in the 60s as well as save time and money, but outfits for the big screen in the here-and-now need the detail

The Ent crew looked like a bunch of janitors in space though?

Carbon is always good. Of course, Lithium is presumably necessary to Dilithium. Oxygen, Nitrogen, & Iron are presumably a given. And, since Spock is in it, I guess we'll have to have Copper.

I think if either the Andorians or the Orions were to appear in Star Trek, variations on the ones we saw on Enterprise would be the way to go (of course, they'd have to be extrapolated forward a century, but the makeup designs for both of them was an excellent update of what was originally established on Star Trek). I also liked the way the Andorian and Orion cultures were built up in Enterprise.

Like to see a few Denobulans or Andorians w/ moving anttenna. I did joke to a friend that during the movie we'll see Kirk or Spock at Starfleet and pass a pic of Archer and crew on a wall and that if that were to happen half the theater would empty. I think Enterprise should not be forgotten though, a refrence to Soval would be interesting.

I just want them to keep the Magic Cloaking Suliban Shuttlecraft from "Enterprise."

I want them to pull it out of nowhere in the final moments of Star Trek XI, use it to save the day, and then never ever mention where it came from or what happens to it afterwards.

The flightsuits on ENT were based on those in use today by Nasa, even down to mission shoulder patches. I thought it was a logical step backwards from the similar one piece outfits seen throughout TOS whenever humans in other jobs were seen. Minus the visable zippers and usually in orange, purple and yellow. From miners, to scientists and colonists, even infamously... a brain-less Spock. It's as if Earth fashion is dictated to by whatever Starfleet has not long cast off. If they end up taking inspiration from 'The Cage' for the major characters, then background technicans wearing updated ENT overalls probably wouldn't look that out of place.

Well, more advanced make-ups are a given.

Ironically, I thought the Orion men looked better than the women, as far as getting them to look like green people rather than humans with green oil rubbed onto them.

If ya want a Copper, we'll need Odo.

Oy. That was bad. :rommie: :klingon: :brickwall:

The uniforms must be two-piece though. How is Kirk supposed to take his shirt off otherwise?
