Eighth Doctor Continuinty

Recently read the 6th Doctor book Players, and intend to read the 2nd Doctor 'sequel' World Game, but then I noticed there's also Endgame with the 8th Doctor, right in the middle of the BBC Books, a series that right now I have no real intention of going towards. Anyone know how standalone Endgame is? Can I read it without the rest of the run and enjoy it and not get massively confused by hearts and missing Gallifreys?

Endgame was part of the "Earth Arc" -- a series of six books where the eighth Doctor, after destroying Gallifrey, is stranded on Earth for about 130 years without his TARDIS and doesn't remember anything about himself or his past/origins except that he's known as the Doctor. The six books were all standalones, taking place a decade or two after the previous one; there's no continuity between them (to their detriment, imho). You can safely read Endgame by itself.
