Eight Legged Freaks

Well, with nothing to do, I convinced my kids to watch EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS with me today. Wow, I totally forgot how fun this movie was.

It kind of has that TREMORS feel to it. Low budget, filmed in the desert, doesn't take itself too serious. My kids were on the edge of their seats. Reminded me of when I took my nephew to see Tremors, and when I took my younger bro to see JAWS all those years ago.

And, hey, the FX for this movie are pretty good. It's available in HD on NETFLIX. So, pop up some popcorn, grab your kids, and be prepared to have fun time!!!

I think I read somewhere that the scene where tarantual attacks the trailer was actually filmed with a real tarantula. If so, the scene comes off really well. We ended up watching TREMORS after it was over. A great double bill!!!

(And it also helps that a young Scarlet Johanson is there for eye candy too)

Lordy will I never not ever watch this movie! Even the trailer gives me the creeps for weeks! Spiders! As big as mofos! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I have a feeling this is a fun movie and if the creatures were anything but spiders I might love it.

Oops! You know, I was thinking of ARACHNOPHOBIA when I plugged EIGHT-LEGGED FREAKS earlier. I got the two movies mixed up.

To be honest, I barely remember FREAKS. ARACHNOPHOBIA is great, though.

Yeah, it did have that Tremors like quality to it. Lake Placid was another that was released around the same time. As was Anaconda, but that was shit.

A pretty fun movie, David Arquette is good in it. However, Arachnophobia gives me a bigger case of the heebie-jeebies.

Arachniphobia is a good movie too, but, it had that Spielberg formula feel to it. And since my goofball sister collected spiders, I didn't really get the heeebee jeeebees from it..

Giant spiders? Now that gave me the heeebe jeebees. And with all of the crazy medicines, viagra, steroids out there? I could see this actually happening. Good thing the spiders dont have penises. Then again..maybe they do..and that gives me even more heeebee jeebees.

I'm not keen on spiders...but these big buggers are really funny. Like the one that crashes onto a shop window and the tarzan on! :D

I actually re-watched this a few weeks ago. It's lost some of its luster but it is still an enjoyable enough movie. I think a sequel would have worked, going past spiders (the toxic goop that made them giant originated in a pond afterall) but it could easily have failed as well.
