Hu...heu...I don't feel very mediterranean.
Rye bread is not my thing. Tastes funny to me.
Canadave, if you consider baguette hard-crusted, you should see Tuscan bread: you can drive nails into concrete with that.![]()
Damn. Sorry mate, I messed up my quotes (it's the second time it happens to me today. Should I be worried? You're thinking of Sector 7. I do like a nice hard\chewy crust sometimes, myself.Rye bread is not my thing. Tastes funny to me.

I would say, a life where you don't need to smoke your meat against the biting cold, but you eat it fresh and juicy only lightly touched by the grill, with plenty of fresh, raw, crunchy vegetables. I can live that life. And if you don't like rye bread, what the hell can you have smoked meat on? And a life without smoked meat is a depressing thought indeed.

It's good on all ends of the spectrum. I like a good pumpernickle, too.
It's all context, though... Jewish delis traditionally have used white-rye bread, so that's what they use today. I find that while it's not quite as flavourful as a dark rye, it is just about as heavy and works quite well with the meat.
I'm sure it's delicious, but it doesn't look appealing at all to me...Canadave said:Sounds like the words of a man who's never had a smoked meat sandwich from a good Montreal deli.![]()
Now, I can't promise the same there.
Oh well, there are alternatives! like these:Now, I can't promise the same there.![]()
