Spoilers Easter Eggs/Call Backs - All Episodes

TMP:

FEMALE MASTER: (in Vulcan) Our ancestors cast out their animal passions on these very sands, ...saving our race through the attainment of Kolinahr.
Yeah, my impression has always been that it is something pretty much all Vulcans do, and Spock failed because he was half human.

Or then just the Hitlers and Maos of Vulcan went all monk, stopping the bloodshed and allowing the average Spjoe and T'Jane to live their lives in relative peace with their emotions.

So here we have another ambiguity that DSC could shed some light on. Given the smooooooothness of the Burnham-Spock-Starfleet-Father-issues thing, I have high hopes that if the writers choose to tackle this, they'll give us something that's both consistent, surprising and satisfying. They really seem to love their Vulcans.

Post Kolinhar, pre-V'Ger, Spock is the closest we ever see him to the 'full Vulcan' persona, so this is probably an accurate impression.

There are some logistical considerations involved, too. It's bad enough that Starfleet has to make do with a single Academy, even if it's perfectly possible that the entire city of San Francisco is dedicated to that purpose. How does Vulcan process its billions of citizens if Graduation Day is a personal affair tying down three High Priests and the one and only historical location?

...A memorial of the "gate guardian" type, made of an outdated spacecraft, or an active user of the Expeditionary Group parking lot?

I'm sort of having trouble not believing in the biggest Easter egg of them all now, a fully detailed Constitution in all her original glory.

I doubt they'll relegate the Connie to a mere Easter egg, and it won't look identical to its TOS appearance.

Interesting! I never pegged Vulcans for being a particularly nostalgic species. I guess maybe they have museums for educational purposes, for which this old antique vessel may serve as the entrance eye-catcher.

Then again, perhaps this is a fully operational craft, just as modern as the one used by Sarek? Vulcans may build their designs to last, and the "old" vessel seen in "Fusion" in fact remains in combat use in "The Forge".

Timo Saloniemi

Yup. Might be standard landers for big Vulcan ships. Whether they're interstellar like Starfleet shuttles or Sarek's ride here is another matter - they don't have warp rings, and they don't have nacelles, but they do have the sort of engine pods found on the small Buck Rogers style shuttles/fighters seen in "Carbon Creek" and "The Forge".

I'm sort of disappointed that these things are only on "static display" in the episode. That is, I'm disappointed that everything flying on the skies above that Vulcan city is a copy of Sarek's runabout. Not a single case of reusing other, older CGI creations (I'm not sure how viable that would be, technically speaking, but hey, they managed to insert the ST:FC lander!), not a single case of inserting a nondescript blob. Just copy after copy of this design, no Easter eggs of any sort up there.

Well, we do see them parked in long rows, too. Perhaps this model is a sales success for the early 23rd century? Or the standard tool of trade for the Expeditionary Group, or whatever.

Let me quickly pop this episode 6, 'Lethe', compilation of references to canon here and then jump out as I haven't seen ep 7 yet!

Not much egg-laying here, it seems. That map suggests Starfleet doesn't want to redraw the border - it just adds a dotted line indicating the current win-some-lose-some situation, and supposedly hopes to restore the solid line eventually.

(And it's winning hands down, it seems. Not only is the hero ship credited with doing this, but Tyler suggests extremely low overall casualties on the Starfleet side. Heck, him and Lorca probably personally popped more Klingons than that!)
