Easiest way to bring Kirk back...

Superman

Fleet Captain
Here we go:

POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR STAR TREK:

Old Spock has aided his younger self in saving young Kirk. Before he returns to his old time, Old Spock mind melds with Young Spock, infusing just one bit of knowledge: how James Kirk eventually dies in the 24th century.

Old Spock returns to the future. Waiting for him is James T. Kirk. We learn that Spock was ready and waiting on Veridian III, and aided Kirk and Picard in defeating Soran.

The two men go off into the sunset together, discussing their glory days.

See how easy that was?

I've seen lots of people post this particular suggestion but as far as I'm concerned it just doesn't work! I'd love to see the Shat back on the big screen as Kirk one last time but not in a way that is detrimental to the story and retreading a movie from 93 that isn't exactly the most iconic or popular installment can not in my opinion serve the story they wish to tell in this film.

The easiest way to bring Kirk back is to recast someone to play him in the pre TOS era!

I don't think your personal fanwank required a "potential spolier" warning, though I thank you for your concern.

The easiest way to "BBK," however, would be to drink a lot, go to sleep, and dream about it. That's the only way it's likely to hapen.

Yeah I never understood why people slap "spoiler" warnings on pure conjecture. Are spoilerphobics really so paranoid?

Apparently.

Not the first time this has been suggested, but it really wouldn't be worth the screen time to even establish the circumstances of Kirk's death for the new audience. Pass.

That's just silly.

The end of Generations (and subsequent TNG films) were just some of Picard's Nexus fantasies. You see, Picard never actually left the Nexus, he just thought he did.

However, years later, Spock figured out how to get Kirk out, and brought him back to the real world.

Yes, that's a much better BBK scenario. :p

---------------

The only problems with the proposed scenario are:

1. It would be meaningless to 90% of the audience.

2. It doesn’t really accomplish anything. If old Kirk is never mentioned, most people would never know/care that he was dead in the first place.

3. Awkward plot.

4. Shatner.

How hard would it be to forget "Generations" and just have him in it? Frankly, it would make for a far better Trek universe than the one with Generations in it.

//Yes, I could just ignore all the TNG films? Why do you ask?

The subject line is misleading, what people are howling for is for *Shatner* to come back when they keep contriving these ways for "Kirk to return".

Kirk is back! He's being played by a young man by the name of Chris Pine who many of us hope will fill that role for years to come.

Sharr, I almost posted the same thing with the exception of hoping Mr. Pine fills the role for years to come. I'd prefer to wait and see how he performs the role before giving him such an endorsement.

^ Yes indeed. Shatner is a known quantity of hammy goodness. I am more than willing to give Chris Pine a chance at making the role his own, but frankly it would be nice to have Shatner pass the baton to him. It won't be world ending if it doesn't happen, but that's... just... how... I.. FEEL... about it.

What...DO... you...think?

Ok I'll concede that one. But my point remains this isn't about "Bringing Kirk Back".

I would rather they didn't bring back Shatner as Kirk, but the February 2008 Sci-Fi-Channel magazine that I got today says that they are still considering it. If they're gonna do it, they should do it soon before the big guy has an aneurism. What a blow hard.

Shatner's no good at playing Kirk; Wrath Of Khan was the last time he played him effectively.

Kirk IS coming back... in the form of Chris Pine.
