Heh. That map reminds me of Gregory Benford's 1994 LitSF short story The Bigger One, where a massive quake just south of Mexicali causes water from the Gulf to flood central Southern California as far north as Indio thus creating an inland sea and, incidentally, billions of dollars of brand new waterfront real estate.

Wow... So it seems it didn't hit the SA Fault. I guess that's good news? A friend in Monrovia, CA (east and north of LA proper) said the house swayed a bit and that they had a fun ride for a minute, but no damage done.

I guess there was a smaller quake up in the Sacramento area too? Yikes.. Glad I'm here in New Mexico where the only shaking we feel amounts to less than 3.0 on the scale.

I have a friend who lives in El Centro who felt it and said there are going to be a number of aftershocks coming. So far only minor damage, but he and the family was ok. I'm glad for that at least. 7.2 is a big quake.

I was in Chula Vista (South of San Diego) and felt it pretty good. It was a good roller, lasting about 30-40 seconds.

A couple of people have been killed in Mexico, and dozens other injured. Not as bad as the other quakes we've had lately, but still not good news.

Yeah it was shaking quite a bit here in San Diego. The USGS site says it was about a 6.9, south of Mexicali somewhere.

we just had a 5.0 aftershock..felt it really bad here at worked..knocked some books off my shelf...lasted for about 10 seconds...centered near Ocitillo around 6:34am or so...

Not that uncommon during larger quakes, actually, especially with long, rolling quakes like this one was.

I was in Pasadena having Easter dinner with some friends. Apart from it being longer than the earthquakes I've experienced before, it wasn't so bad. The weird part was after it was (mostly) over, there was a slight, continued swaying that happened. Felt almost like the entire room was on the deck of a boat.
