Reese explains that it's "set about 300 or 400 years in the future"
Rhett Reese:It’s a science-fiction epic war movie ala, I don’t know, Braveheart or, uh… whatever things can we compare it to. It’s sort of got a little Star Wars in it, a little Braveheart, a little 300 in it.
It’s a colony on the moon. And the colony on the moon is fighting Earth.
It’s like it’s sort of exactly what the title suggests. It’s big and crazy

Half of them have gone to the moon and the other half are still on Earth and so they are on opposite sides of this conflict and we wanted to make sure that as big of movie as it's going to be, it works on a small level.
