Earth Day?

My grandma called me today and ranted because her neighbor chopped down a tree on Earth Day.

It was their own property, and they had every right to do it. But she lives in an older neighborhood with very big, old trees, and she can't see any reason for people to want to get rid of them.

Earth Day is such a farce. If we actual gave a damn, we'd just be doing all of these Earth Day/Going Green things as a matter of course and not talking about it. Instead, we're just a bunch of feel good hypocrites.

At 8:00 Nickolodeon is reaching the summit of its Earth Day brainwashing by having all of their viewers turn off all the lights/appliances in their homes for a minute.

How 'bout everybody turn off the fucking lights in all the rooms they're not fucking using? All the time!

That'd make a difference.

I live on Earth, therefore I'm celebrating in my own way every day.

I will leave Earth for another planet if I ever become the least bit dissatisfied. For now, I"m pleased.


Plus, with all the work our ancestors took in arriving here, and all the time/resources aliens have invested to grooming life here, it would be a shame to turn our backs on the planet now.
