Early TNG promotion question

I was about 10 when TNG premiered. The only actors I knew were Levar Burton and Michael Bell, the voice of Prowl on THE TRANSFORMERS.

Now that I think about it, I had seen Spiner before ... playing a hillbilly type on Night Court.

Now that I think about it, I had seen Spiner before ... playing a hillbilly type on Night Court.

It took me a few episodes to remember him from there, because he was so drastically different, & shortly thereafter I recalled Stewart from Dune, mostly because he looked exactly the same. It took a bit longer to remember Crosby from 48 Hours

But I remember placing Burton from Roots & Wheaton from Stand By Me during promos

I remember what I thought at first would be a big chore: learning all these new names! "Brent Spiner...that's a weird name. Who the hell is Jonathan Frakes?!" I only knew of Levar Burton from Roots.

Soon enough, they were all learned, though. At first it just came across as a lot more than seven names listed, for some reason.
