Earl Grey is Awful!

50 percent water 50 percent milk. Bring water to boil on hob. Add tea, one teaspoon per person. Add cloves, add cardamom pod, add stick of cinammon, add sugar to taste. Continue to boil until tea has infused. Then add milk, and bring back to boil and then cut heat. Strain into cups and enjoy with Indian sweets.

May way is much easier.

1. Boil required water in kettle. If covered in limescale, boil anyway, but make a mental note to "see to it".

2. Open cupboard.

3. Remove box of Lancashire (or Yorkshire if you are on the wrong side of the Pennines) tea.

4. Place one bag in base of large mug.

5. Read back page of newspaper, noting that Liverpool were well robbed/ are in league-winning form (delete as appropriate)

6. Pour water into mug.

7. Read front page of newspaper, noting that David Cameron is a squashy-faced toffish wanker. This should take five minutes.

8. Decant teabag into bin (or compost if you are very good). Be sure not to squash the bag against the side of the mug, as this can only result in the release of nasty-tasting tannin.

9. Put one glug of milk into mug.

10. Stir.

11. Open packet of Jaffa Cakes.

12. Bliss.

It's the British way.

Ok I admit it, I don't have time for the Indian way all the time, and my arteries would hate me if I did.

I use your method, although I have a little ground spice (clove cardamom cinammon ginger) to put into the cup before the water.

I still need the burst of flavour. Also, I put in the milk just before the teabag is removed. That avoids those little bits left floating in the mug afterwards if you do it the other way around.
